With the nice weather we are having, I was suddenly inspired to make fruit coasters. I love the way they turned out and I think they would be a fabulous hostess gift and a lot of fun to have out for your spring or summer get togethers!
Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Vanna’s Choice in Scarlet (red), Mustard (yellow), Fern (green), Terracotta (orange), White, and Chocolate (brown). You can find and purchase these at www.lionbrand.com. The pink in the watermelon is Red Heart with Love Bubble Gum.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Abbreviations:

Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (24 DC)

I've made the apple, strawberry and watermelon so far (college kid with too much time…) An there is a little mistake in the strawberry pattern. When it says, "SC in each stitch until you get to the last 5 stitches", it should say 6 stitches because there are 12 stitches to do after, 2 in each (2 HDC, 2 HDC, 2 DC, 2 HDC, 2 HDC, 2 SC)
Thanks for the great patterns 🙂
Repeat Crafter Me says
Oh no! Thanks for catching that. This is what happens when I write down the pattern after I have finished instead of writing it as I go 🙂 So I counted my stitches again and it looks like I actually added in and extra "2 HDC". I updated the pattern but I am sure it will work if you leave 6 stitches and do it the way I originally had it written 🙂

I did it the way you wrote it and it turned out fine.

I had a blast making these! When I figure out how to post a picture to your blog I would love to share. On the citrus fruit for the surface slip at the end of each section I pulled a single strand of yarn all the way through (left it about 1.5 ft long, weaves over on the backside to where the next one should be and continued. That way I only have two ends to weave in. Lived these patterns! Thank you so much!!!

I love these! Is it ok for anyone to make these and sell the finished coasters?
Cecelia S. McDowell says
I love these fruit patterns but can anyone out there help me to attach the leaves and stems so they look like the pictures. I end up with a lot of threads in knots on the back.

OMG THANKS SO MCUH!!!!!! QUEEN FOREVER!

Hi! These are very adorable, I’m wondering how you keep the “seed” black yarn from poking through. For example in the watermelon do you sew the black tailings into the red part? Does it look odd on the back? Thanks!
