I was reorganizing my craft closet and came across these cute little wooden bowls that I got years ago from Snuggly Monkey on Etsy. They are the perfect size to hold stitch markers, small buttons, and other little craft necessities. After a quick paint job – owls of course – I put one on my bedside table and two on my desk. You can find the same bowls HERE or the Amazon link below. Michaels and Jo-Anns both have wooden craft sections that I’m sure would have something similar as well. Please note that finished bowls are not dishwasher safe nor are they safe for eating out of.
– Small unfinished wooden bowls (links above)
– Acrylic paint or paint pens and paint brush
– Sharpie marker
– Triple Thick Gloss Glaze or Mod Podge
First paint your base coat color onto the bowls and let dry.
Then paint on two circles for the eyes, a little orange triangle nose and the wings. I actually used a chalkboard paint marker for the eyes.

When paint is dry, trace around edges with your black sharpie marker. Fell free to give it different expressions and don’t forget the eye balls!
Finish by using a coat of Triple Thick Glass Glaze. I love this stuff! You may recognize it from my nesting doll projects (SESAME STREET, DISNEY, WINNIE THE POOH). It glides on easily and doesn’t leave paint brush streaks. You could also use mod podge if that’s what you have on hand 🙂
