My kids got out their stamps yesterday and I decided I wanted in on the fun With a russet potato, circle cookie cutter, and a knife, I made a little yarn ball stamp! A fun little DIY project that gives you a nice imprint for homemade cards or wrapping paper. Here’s the how-to:
– 1 russet potato
– Circle cookie cutter (about 1.5 inches)
– Carving tool (really any household item that you can scrape with… I used the back of a nail clipper!)
Cut potato in half and stick your cookie cutter about half way in.
Use your knife to cut up against the cookie cutter.
Carve yarn ball lines! You only need stets of 3 lines going in different directions.
Start stamping! I used acrylic paint and found it easier to dab it on with my finger instead of dipping the stamp in. Paint on some loose yarn strands if desired.
