Glitter & Jumbo Viral Crochet Dumplings

May 25, 2026

Just when I thought these crochet dumplings couldn’t get any cuter… I discovered the PERFECT yarn for making “rare” glitter dumplings!

If your family has been caught up in the viral mystery dumpling craze like we have, then you know exactly the kind I’m talking about: the ultra-rare rainbow, glitter, holographic, and tie-dye dumplings that everyone hopes to find inside the blind-box baskets. Well… this yarn gives exactly that vibe.

I used Red Heart Roll With It Sparkle Yarn and honestly… it was MADE for this project.
>>> Shop Red Heart Roll With It Sparkle Yarn HERE <<<

The yarn has self-striping color changes, soft gradient transitions, and silver sparkle strands woven throughout! The shimmer reminds me so much of the rare glitter mystery dumplings all over TikTok and Instagram! I especially love how the colors slowly shift from peachy pinks into creamy yellows. The jumbo dumpling really shows off those beautiful gradient color changes in the best way.

And once the light hits the sparkle?!

One thing to note: Roll With It Sparkle is slightly thinner than Red Heart Super Saver, which I used in the original dumpling pattern. Because of that the stitches came out a little tighter and I had to add in one extra row to make sure it gave that same smooth round shape to the bottom. And naturally… I ended up making a GIANT dumpling version too

The jumbo size became one of my favorites because the color changes really get a chance to shine across the larger surface area.

Let’s Talk Stuffing

For these dumplings, I’m using regular Poly-fil fiber stuffing and making sure not to overstuff them. You want the dumpling to feel soft and squishy, not stiff like a ball.

A lightly stuffed dumpling gives a nice plush squeeze while still keeping its shape.

But if you want something even closer to the real viral dumpling squishies, here are a few fun alternatives:

  • Memory foam chunks – creates that satisfying slow-rise squish
  • Poly beads in a pouch – adds weight and sensory feel
  • Foam stress ball center – gives an extra squeezable core
  • Cornstarch balloon insert – a DIY stress-ball style filling

About the Plastic Steamer Baskets

The smaller dumpling pictured fits perfectly inside the plastic steamer basket from Five Below. It originally came packaged with one of the viral squishy dumplings inside.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find stores selling the steamer containers separately yet… but trust me, I’m still looking.

For now, you can find dumplings packaged in the containers on Amazon, which is a fun option if you want the full mystery-dumpling experience for your crochet version.

The way she describes the yarn shifting from peachy pinks to creamy yellows totally caught my eye – it’s exactly like those rare glitter dumplings my niece obsesses over

These crochet dumplings are honestly next-level cute, especially with that glitter sparkle effect—it really gives a “rare find” vibe like the blind-box craze. The idea of using holographic and tie-dye inspired yarn makes the whole project feel so fun and collectible. I recently came across something similar while browsing resources on Leon Case Search which had some interesting structured info layouts. It’s amazing how creative yarn choices can completely transform a simple crochet idea into something magical.

Random recommendation but BulkImagen has been a quiet game-changer for me this year. Most AI image tools make you generate one image at a time, but this one just hands you a whole batch from a single prompt. Sounds like a small difference until you actually try it.
