Crochet Pumpkin Pixie Bonnet

October 4, 2013

I came across a super cute crochet pixie bonnet pattern that is available for FREE over at CrochetLatte.com. Don’t let the fancy looking stitch or the bonnet shape trick you, this pattern is super easy! It actually works up in flat rows and then you stitch it together in the back when you are finished. Really, really simple! You can find the FREE pattern HERE. Thanks CrochetLatte!

I know this picture looks a little awkward but I promise my baby is ok. She was insistent on trying to nurse the blanket! Hats off to all you baby photographers. I don’t know how you do it. Anyway, I had to share this picture because it’s a perfect view of how the bonnet looks while being worn.

Being that it is pumpkin season, I thought I would make this into a “pumpkin” pixie bonnet! As usual, I used my go-to crochet hook: Size H. And I used worsted weight yarn. I love these colors by Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice. The orange is Terracotta and the green is Fern. I like how the bonnet is subtle and isn’t literally a pumpkin. It’s perfect for a little girl during the Fall season.

For the bonnet chin straps, I cut 6 long pieces of green yarn, looped it through the last stitch on the corner of the bonnet, knotted and pulled tight. So you should now have 12 strands. I was considering braiding them but I kind of liked them all loose and left it as is.

Adorable but no way would I leave those strings. She could choke on one. Better to braid.

I love your patterns and links. Thank you so much. Wondering how you would increase size for this based on hat charts

These things should be discussed more often in everyday life.
