Crochet Emoji C2C Graphgan
Are you or your kids Emoji-obssessed? It’s hard not to love those cute little faces and icons that give your texts and social media posts a little pizzazz! I created 9 Emoji Crochet C2C (corner-to-corner) squares and stitched them together to make a fun Emoji Graphgan! A fairly simple project that you can easily add to. A great gift for your teen or tween! Don’t forget about the “Poop Pillow” to pair with your Emoji Face Blanket!
You can find all the materials, instructions, graphs and color change patterns by following the links below:
Plus two bonus squares: The Poop Emoji and Prayer Emoji
I stitched my squares together by simply SC the edges. First horizontally and then vertically. This is the same technique I used to put together my Daisy Afghan.
Yellow used in tutorial to show the stitches better. I ultimately decided on white for the seams.
I made a simple SC border around the entire edge. First using white, then yellow, brown, and white again. Be sure that you make a SC + Chain 2 + SC on each corner.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this Mini Crochet-along! So many possibilities for this blanket and many other squares could be added! I have included a blanket graph for you to sketch out your own emoji’s at the end of THIS POST.
Hope you’ve enjoyed the Emoji’s! Can’t wait to see your versions!

Poop Emoji and Prayer Emoji Pillows, C2C squares, and pixel graphs
If you’ve been following my Emoji C2C graphgan you’ve seen the 9 Emoji face squares I’ve created. But this project wouldn’t be complete without the poop emoji! I’ve created a “Poop Pillow” to go with my Emoji face graphgan! And for those who don’t fancy the poop emoji, I’ve also created a “Prayer Pillow” as well! I’m including the graphs for both the poop and prayer emojis in the is post and the directions on how to make the pillow. Or add them as additional squares to your blanket!

To put together a pillow you will need to make a second square that is 15×15 pixel squares (it can be a solid color). You will also need a 12×12 pillow form. I purchase mine at Michael’s Craft Store.
SC the front and back pieces together. You will want to stop after 3 sides are connect. Insert your pillow form and SC the last side closed. Weave in ends.
So which do you prefer? The poop square or the prayer square?!
Want to create your own emoji pixel square? Use THIS blank 15×15 template. Print it out and fill it in with colored pencils. I make my graphs in Excel and then fill in the squares in photoshop.

I am creating a 9-square corner-to-corner (C2C) blanket just like my Christmas Character Afghan but smaller. The squares are 15×15 pixels (where as my Christmas characters were 25×25) and each one has a different emoji face on it! And because of the consistent colors, smaller size, and less color changes, the pieces work up faster. It took me about 1.5 hours to make one square. If you aren’t up for creating an entire blanket, you can use the squares individually! They would make a cute pillow cover or even a small lovey blanket!
If you are new to the C2C technique you can find several tutorials on how to begin. The Crochet Crowd has a great video tutorial that you can watch HERE. You can also refer to the videos and picture tutorials in my Baby Sheep C2C or my Owl C2C for more instruction.
Materials:
– Size G Crochet Hook
– Worsted Weight Yarn in Yellow, Red, Brown, White, Pink, Black and Blue. I am using Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Mustard, Scarlett, Chocolate, Pink, White, Black and Aqua (for all squares). You only need about 1 skein for each piece… I think I was able to get two squares out of 1.5 skeins of white and yellow. Obviously the smaller features use less yarn.
– Tapestry needle
Finished Square is approx 12 x 12 inches.
You can download the Happy Face Emoji Graph HERE.
NOTE: I made a last minute decision to leave off the orange and only use yellow. I am leaving the graphs with the orange border just in case you decide you want to crochet yours like that. If you are up for the extra color change I think the emoji’s will look great with the orange! Or you can leave the orange squaresyellow as I did.

Have you found that sometimes your squares don’t connect? This is normal! For example lets look at the smile in this particular emoji. You see the brown squares are connected on one side of the smile, but disconnected on the other. The squares that are connected were crocheted all in one diagonal row, whereas the squares that are disconnected were in separate rows and were actually separated by rows of yellow in-between. This is just the nature of the C2C graph.
Don’t worry, you can fix this!
When it’s time to weave in your ends, stitch your yarn between the two corners about 3 times to created a connection.
Voila! No more awkward space!

You only need about 1 skein for each piece… I think I was able to get two squares out of 1.5 skeins of white and yellow. Obviously the smaller features use less yarn.
– Tapestry needle
Finished Square is approx 12 x 12 inches.
You can download the Crazy Face Graph HERE.
NOTE: I made a last minute decision to leave off the orange and only use yellow. I am leaving the graphs with the orange border just in case you decide you want to crochet yours like that. If you are up for the extra color change I think the emoji’s will look great with the orange! Or you can leave the orange squares yellow as I did.

Crochet Winter Granny Stitch Blanket
If you are looking for a repetitive and easy crochet project that will last you into the new year, this Winter Granny Stitch Blanket is perfect! I’m using the “Red Heart Crochet Christmas at Granny’s Blanket” pattern from Yarnspirations.com. Instead of using the red and green Christmas colors, I grabbed a few shades of beautiful blues from the Red Heart with Love line to make it winter themed!
GET THE GRANNY STITCH BLANKET PATTERN HERE ON YARNSPIRATIONS.COM
I am using Red Heart with Love in colors:
Bluebell (3 balls) to replace the spring green
Iced Aqua (1 ball) to replace the red
Peacock (1 ball) to replace the dark green
Eggshell (2 Balls) to replace the white
SHOP THESE YARN COLORS HERE ON YARNSPIRATIONS.COM
The pattern comes with a graph and pictures along with the written pattern so once you get going, you can refer to either the graph or picture to count your rows and color changes.
NOTE: I started with 9 rows of bluebell. The graph shows it starting with only 4 rows but I counted the rows in the picture and there are 9.
GET THE GRANNY STITCH BLANKET PATTERN HERE ON YARNSPIRATIONS.COM
My blanket is still a work in progress but I wanted to share all the details with you in case you want to get started on this simple granny stitch project. It’s a great blanket to work on while you are binge watching shows or holiday movies. Or if you are hanging around the house with the kids for winter break. Or if you are snowed in or headed to the mountains for a ski trip!
I will be sure to post the blanket when It’s finished!
Stay tuned!
Progress! Just a few more rows to go and then I need to weave in ends. I’ve been able to carry this around the house as I spend time with family, watching football and holiday movies. The perfect mindless crochet project with no stitch counting! I even ordered pink and red yarn colors to start on a valentine version!

Not So Scary Crochet Monsters
I’m loving these Not-So-Scary Monsters! Technically this pattern is called the Scary Gary Crochet Dishcoth, but Gary the purple monster is definitely not scary! You can get this FREE Monster pattern HERE on Yarnspirations.com.
And yes, I used the CROCHET CARTOON EYES again I think I will make these into a pillow or maybe a trick-or-treating tote bag. I am using them more as appliqués rather than dishcloths.
GET THE FREE MONSTER PATTERN HERE
I’m using Red Heart Super Saver in colors pumpkin, medium purple, and spring green. They are so bright and fun! You can shop all these colors and more on Yarnspirations.com.
The three monsters you see in my photos are made from the exact same pattern!
GET THE FREE MONSTER PATTERN HERE
THE ORANGE MONSTER:
1. Make the head/body of pattern just how it’s written using Red Heart Super Saver in Pumpkin Orange.
2. Crochet two Crochet Cartoon Eyes. One in the original size and one in the smaller size using Spring Green for the eye color. GET THE FREE CROCHET CARTOON EYE PATTERN HERE.
3. Make 3 horns in black yarn just as the pattern is written.
4. Make the mouth a bit bigger by chaining 25 instead of 15.
THE PURPLE MONSTER:
1. Make all parts of the pattern as written except the eye.
2. Make the regular size crochet cartoon eye using Turqua for the eye color. Crochet an extra round on the eye in white yarn: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around. Fasten off leaving long tail to stitch the eye onto the middle of the purple monster.
THE GREEN MONSTER:
1. Make the head/body of pattern just how it’s written using Red Heart Super Saver in Spring Green.
2. Make two horns just as the pattern is written but in Spring Green instead of black yarn.
3. Make 2 regular size cartoon eyes using purple for the eye color. Stitch the eyes onto the tops of the green horns instead of the head/body.
4. Make the mouth bigger by chaining 35 instead of 15. Stitch it on in a wobbly squiggle.
As you can see, just a few small changes and you have a variety of silly monsters!
I had a few comments on social media that these would be fun hats. I think they definitely would!

Easy Corner-to-Corner Crochet Joining Technique
It’s time to join our crochet gnomes! This tutorial will work with any corner-to-corner crochet project and the best part is that you DON’T need a border on each of your individual C2C pieces! This is a very simple and effective technique. If you have already made individual borders along each of your gnome panels, don’t worry, you have lots of joining options that I will list out at the bottom of this post.
The first thing I would do is lay out all of your gnome panels in the correct order and position you want them. Choose a yarn color that you want to join your C2C panels with. I am choosing white – simple and clean! You are going to want to join all the seams, first going vertically, then going horizontally down the line. I try to explain this better in my video below:
Holding two of the panels together, you will be making a Single Crochet stitch between the pixel blocks, then make a chain 2 and reach your hook over to the next space between pixel blocks and make another SC. Continue until you have joined all the C2C panels.
The backside has a cool stitched look to it as well!
Alternate joining methods if your C2C panel has a border on it:
Join using the Braided Join Single Crochet as seen in my Corner-to-Corner Celebration Blanket.
Slip Stitch the front loops together as seen in my C2C Bird Blanket
Basic Single Crochet Join as seen in my Emoji Blanket:
And last but not least, one of my absolute favorite blankets and join techniques (but also the most time consuming) is the Tapestry Needle Lace Join (similar to a mattress stitch) that I used on my Christmas Character C2C Blanket.

It’s never too late to start this blanket.
Up next will be a tutorial on how to crochet a border for you gnome blanket!

I also hosted a fun Crochet-Along with my friends at Yarnspirations this month! I showed you step-by-step how to make this adorable Crochet Owl using Bernat Blanket O’Go Yarn! It’s not too late to make one or the whole flock. You can get the free (3-part) pattern HERE on Yarnpsirations.com. Video tutorials are also available!
I also made a few fun accessories for Ollie the O’Go Owl which you can find HERE
I’ve been spending a lot of quality time with the family this past week and my oldest son and I just completed this One Million Dollar Puzzle! This will come easy to those of you who have an eye for color! Complete the puzzle, scan the QR code, and you can win anywhere from 25 cents to 1 million! We won 25 cents You can purchase the puzzle HERE on Amazon.
We also took a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona (it’s only 2 hours from our new house in Phoenix!) and fell in love with the town! I felt like I was in a scene from a Hallmark Movie! Zoe and I popped into this adorable bookshop and although we didn’t find Crochet Cute Critters on the shelves, we did find Sutton Fosters new book “Hooked: How Crafting Saved My Life.” Sutton was so sweet to send me a copy herself, but I also recommend downloading the audio version!
Speaking of Crochet Cute Critters, I celebrated a HUGE milestone of book sales this month as well! My publisher notified me earlier this month that Crochet Cute Critters has now sold over 100,000 copies! I am so incredibly proud of this book and your support and love for it has been such a blessing! Thank You! The book now comes in hardcover as well! Get it HERE.
Lastly, I know this project may have slid under the radar with everything else going on, but I created an easy pattern for a Crochet Reindeer and it’s available for free download on Yarnspirations.com! I think it would be fun to crochet all of Santa’s reindeer (just change the nose color!) so it actually might be a good time to get started on this project for next year! You can get the PATTERN HERE.
Thanks for a wonderful 2021 and I will see you all in 2022!
Party Popper Crochet C2C Square
It’s a party popper! The Celebration C2C Blanket needed a little pop of confetti so I took the popular party popper emoji and made it into a pixelated C2C square. I’m not going to lie, this is going to be the most difficult square to crochet. Lots of color changes and ends to weave in. I won’t be offended if you decide to leave this one out or replace it with something else. I am also providing two slightly different pixel graphs for this one. I am working with the same color palette for all of my squares but you can use different or more appropriate party popper colors if you’d like!
I used the C2C (corner-to-corner) technique to crochet each square. Follow THIS VIDEO DEMONSTRATION by The Crochet Crowd for more explanation on how to crochet C2C afghans. I used a size H crochet hook and worsted weight yarn . Specifically Bernat Super Value. Each square takes less than a skein. I do not currently have a count on how many skeins for the entire blanket.
VERY IMPORTANT: Instead of the traditional C2C method of using DC’s and chain 3’s to make each pixel, I used HDC’s and only chained 2 (and chained 5 instead 6 on the increase stitches). I like the way the overall stitches look tighter and neater. You can absolutely use the traditional method! Keep in mind that it will take a little bit more yarn and your overall project will be larger (which isn’t a bad thing!)

– Bernat Super Value Yarn in colors, Natural, Rouge, Bright Yellow, Hot Blue, and Clay. Shop all colors of Bernat Super Value Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Here’s another option!
Or how about a flower?
Or a party hat?
Each pixel graph is 24×24 squares. The finished size of each square after it is crocheted is approximately 16×16 inches. I have not added a border to it.
No better time to start a big project than now! Celebrate your loved ones! Create this blanket with as many (or as little) squares as you’d like! You can also turn any of these squares into individual pillows. Lots of ways to use them!

Crochet iPhone C2C Graphgan
Friends, I have a real treat for you today! A very talented fellow crocheter named Stephanie Lewis has created an incredible C2C (corner-to-corner) iPhone Graphgan! And she is allowing me to share all of the pixel graphs she created right here on my blog! Inspired by my Emojis, Steph got the idea to make 20×20 square pixel graphs of iPhone Apps, just as the icons would appear on the home screen of your phone. Then she stitched them all together to make a fun and fabulous blanket that looks just like an iPhone! You can see the blanket in progress on her Instagram. Very trendy for todays tweens, teens, and those of us (like me) who love our Apple devices 😉
Thank you so much Steph for your generosity and for allowing me to share not only your graph patterns, but these adorable pictures of your children!!
Please take a moment to thank Steph personally on her Instgram page @steph.lewis or click HERE for the direct link.
All of the pixel graphs are complied into a clear and organized PDF document that also includes notes about how to finish the blanket. If you need more direction about how to crochet using the C2C technique you can refer to my Sheep Graphgan post or my Christmas Character Blanket.
You can download the iPhone pixel graphs for free HERE
