If you are a fan of the movie Despicable Me, you may be a fan of this Edith crochet hat! I think the one she is wearing in the cartoon is supposed to look like it is knitted but I think you can create a similar look with crochet. Be sure to also check out my Minion Hat Pattern!
Materials:
-Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Pink and Pink Poodle.
-Size H Crochet Hook
-Tapestry needle

Before starting this pattern you will need to know how to crochet a ridge. There is a really great video on crocheting ridges by Maggie’s Crochet. HERE is the video tutorial. Around 3:00 minutes into the video shows where you need to make your crochet stitches to make the ridge.
Here is also a picture of how to make the ridge. You will need to crochet in the loop UNDER (on the backside) the top of the crochet stitches of the previous round. This pushes the top of the crochet stitch from the previous round out, making the ridge. The rounds where I say “RIDGE” is where you will need to apply this technique.
Another note about this pattern: The hats should turn out long/tall. Just like Edith’s hat sits high and comes to a point instead of being rounded/flat at the top.
