26 Days of Crochet Animal Alphabet Appliques

October 1, 2014

Friends and fellow crocheters, I have been working on this project for over 6 months and even though I’m still not done with it, I wanted to start sharing it with you! I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!

I am creating a Crochet Animal Alphabet Afghan which will include all 26 of these animal appliqués. I am about halfway done with the blanket and I just finished all of the appliqués so I thought I would go ahead and share with you the individual patterns one-by-one over the next 26 days in a series I will call “26 Days of Animal Alphabet Appliqués.” Hopefully by the end of the month I will be close to finishing the entire afghan and will be able to share it with you at that time!

Over the next 26 Days I will post these patterns:
A is for Alligator
B is for Butterfly
C is for Cat
D is for Dog
E is for Elephant
F is for Fox
G is for Giraffe
H is for Hedgehog
I is for Iguana
J is for Jellyfish
K is for Kangaroo
L is for Lamb
M is for Monkey
N is for Nightingale
O is for Owl
P is for Penguin
Q is for Queen Bee
R is for Rabbit
S is for Snail
T is for Turtle
U is for Unicorn
V is for Viper
W is for Whale
X is for X-ray Fish
Y is for Yak
Z is for Zebra
Fair warning: I have not created step-by-step picture tutorials for these (yet). My goal is to create short video tutorials for each of these so please be patient! I hope you enjoy what I have come up with so far and you are as excited about this project as I am! Happy Crocheting!

You are the best! I've been wanting to make an animal applique afghan and this will be perfect for my baby girl. She just turned one a few days after your baby and I'll admit it's been fun stalking your blog and watching your baby grown like mine has. You always manage to post the perfect pattern for what I've been wanting to make for her. Thanks for sharing your amazing talents!

These are so cute! I love them! I’m trying to make an alphabet blanket to fit my son’s twin sized bed. I want to use all granny squares for the animals and letters. I was hoping someone who’s finished this blanket might know what size granny squares I would need to use for all of the appliqués to fit? I would really appreciate the help.
