When I get my hands on a yarn I like there is no stopping me! My latest obsession is Bernat Blanket Yarn. I just finished up a Unicorn Snuggle Sack and a Pumpkin Pouf and with all the leftover yarn laying around, I decided to come up with a quick and easy project for the back-to-school crowd: Crochet Plush Pencils! These seriously work up so quickly and my kids love them! They will be giving them to their teachers on the first day of school. My hope is that when we find out who their teachers are, I will stitch the teachers names on the side. If and when I do that I will make a follow-up post about stitching on letters.
Materials:
–Bernat Blanket Yarn in Black, Vintage White, School Bus Yellow, Dark Grey, and Pixie Pink. Shop all these colors at Yarnspirations.com. You can make many pencils from one skein of each! I made 3 and still have plenty of yarn leftover.
– Size K crochet hook
– Poly-fil fiber stuffing
– Tapestry Needle
Finished Size: 14 inches long x 3.5 inches wide
Note: Pencil is worked from the eraser up. You will need to stuff and weave in your loose ends as you go!
Starting with pink yarn
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1

I do not have children, or teachers, but I will be making these!
Really cool idea! I think my grandson would love it.

I love your pattern. I have one my Mom made for my son 20yrs ago. But this one is about 5ft long. Bigger than a body pillow. My son still uses it on his bed!
Well, this is my first visit to your blog! Your blog provided us valuable information .You have done a marvelous job
I am a school bus driver and am making these for my elementary kids for next school year. I made several using a SC and they turned out under 8 inches long. So I switched to a HDC and they are perfect!! Thank you so very much for this wonderful pattern!!
Thank you! Thank you!! I was struggling with the SC and size. I even went up a hook size and it was still really small. My SC doesn’t look like the picture either.
