Sometimes I feel like a yarn magician! I wanted to make a ladybug square and was flipping through some of my older patterns when I realized my pumpkin square would work perfectly as a ladybug. It is the exact same pattern just using different colors! You will need to add in some surface slip stitches and buttons at the end to make this ladybug come to life!
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red, Black, and Aran.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– 6 black buttons (they can be various sizes)
NOTE: you can also crochet black circles instead of using buttons!
– Pumpkin Patch Pattern (this is a pattern I designed for Yarnspirations)
Finished Size: Approximately 7 x 7 inches

You will follow the pattern as previously written as a crochet pumpkin. When you are finished see below for tutorial on surface slip stitching!

Grab your black strand of yarn (even better if it is still attached to your project) and surface slip stitch around the edge of your red circle.
Before you fasten off, go ahead and make a few slip stitches on the right side of the head for the first antennae.
Now join your black yarn to the bottom middle of your ladybug body and surface slip stitch up the center.
Before you fasten off, make a few extra surface slip stitch up the left hand side of the head for the second antennae.

Add on some black buttons or crochet small black circles for the ladybug spots!
