Yarn Cake Roses Bouquet

January 26, 2017

YarnBouquet1

It’s the bouquet of flowers every crocheter or knitter wants to receive! These Yarn Cake Roses are better than the real thing! Send your significant other a hint by sharing this post or make one yourself for a festive piece of table decor. How about using it as a centerpiece for your next crochet night?  The small yarn cakes are made with a Standwood Ball Yarn Winder and Caron Simply Soft yarn. Stick them on plastic flower stems from the Dollar Store.

Materials:
– (3) 6-stem Plastic Rose Bouquets from the Dollar Tree
– 1 vase from the Dollar Tree
– 2 Skeins of Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Red and White or Off White. See all colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com.
– Yarn Ball Winder

Wind your yarn into cakes! You should be able to get 3 small cakes out of each skein, giving you a half dozen roses. Make additional cakes for more roses! My yarn cakes measure approximately 3 x 3 inches.

Pull off the artificial roses off the top of the stems. They pop right off! Leave the leaves and the white buds. These fake bouquets were found in the Valentine’s Day decor section of the Dollar Tree but they have similar bouquets all year round in their floral aisle.

Poke two of the plastic stems into each yarn cake to ensure it is supported. Yes it will still be delicate. You want to be sure the yarn cakes are usable afterward so you don’t want to secure it permanently.

Arrange your bouquet into the vase and you’re done! So easy and beautiful! I would enjoy looking at this yarn bouquet all year round 🙂

    Love this idea!
It would make a great gift for kris kringle at my local meeting of fibre addicts.
I have saved it to my Pinterest to remind me later.

I’d love to know where you got that ball winder! I love the bottom wire that holds the yarn up and away.
