Crochet Cupcake Pixel Blanket
The masterpiece is complete! Here is my Crochet Cupcake Pixel Blanket! Phew, it’s finally finished and I am really happy with the way it turned out. Let me tell you all about it and walk you through all the steps so you can make your own! I will try to answer some frequently asked questions as well. Wish I had some better photos for you, but because of its size, it is hard to photograph. So these will have to do for now 🙂
This tutorial is broken up into 4 different posts in order to give you as much step by step direction and detail as possible. Click the highlight links above each picture to see the process documented in each post. Also be sure to refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below!
FAQs:
How long did it take you to make? I started this blanket is early April. It is now the end of May so just about two months. I was able to make 20 squares in 1 hour (uninterrupted) but of course I was never able to crochet for an hour straight… so just the squares took me over 50 hours. Then I wove in the ends, laid out the squares, joined the squares, and made the border.
But all those ends?! Not gonna lie, this project is tedious but so worth it when it comes together. In my opinion weaving in those ends was the easiest and quickest part! The bulk of my time was spent repetitively crocheting the squares. Even joining took longer than weaving in the ends. Two ends to weave in on each square didn’t take long and there was a quick sense of satisfaction after each square was finished.
How much yarn do I need? One skein of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice makes about 20-21 squares. I made a total of 525 squares so that is about 25 skeins just for the squares. The joining will take 2 skeins and then another for the border.
I used: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in these colors: Beige (approx 15 skeins), Pink (approx 6 skeins), Scarlett, White, Black (approx 4 skeins), Honey (approx 3 skeins), Dusty Purple, Aqua, Mustard, Fern, and Raspberry. 1 skein or less of the ones that I didn’t specify.
Where can I find a pixel graph? Perler bead patterns (try THIS website) make perfect pixel graphs! Read more about it HERE.
How do I join the squares? I used THIS technique by Petals to Picots to join my squares. You can read all about it my Pixel Square Layout and Joining Post. You don’t have to use this method. Feel free to join as you go.
How big is the blanket? The finished blanket is 63×53 inches and fits perfectly over a twin size bed!
How big are the squares? Each of the pixel squares measures 2.5×2.5. If they start curling you may want to block or dock them. Check out my Pixel Square Docking Station!
What does the back look like? Because of the way I slip stitched the rows together, the squares are bordered on the back. I actually really like it and it has a cool texture but if it bothers you, you could line it with fleece or use a different joining method.
Is there a way to adjust the size of the design so it’s less pixels? The only way to adjust the size of a pixel blanket is by adjusting the size of the squares (use a smaller hook and lighter weight yarn… also the squares I used are smaller than the average granny square). A pixel blanket is just what the name says… made of pixels. Just like in a photo, the less pixels you have, the less detail you have. Believe me, I tried to alter this cupcake design, but you really do need all these pixels to make the picture work. If you want to make a blanket with less pixels, you may want to choose another design with less pixels. For instance THIS FOX PIXEL BLANKET only has 132 squares.
Sometimes all you need is a simple single crocheted border. With all the different elements in this blanket, I didn’t want to over do it with a fancy edge (although I did consider doing a scalloped border). So I did 2 rounds of SC in beige and one round of SC in Pink. When you get to the corners, make SC + chain 1+ SC.
Crochet Race Car “Playnket” (Play Mat and Blanket)
I know a little boy who isn’t feeling so well and is in need of some cheering up this week. That is when the idea of the “Playnket” hit me! It’s a crochet play mat and lovey blanket all in one! Snuggle with it or lay it flat on the floor and race the cars on the track. Perfect for sick days on the couch but also a soft activity toy that is a great size to take on the go! Of course you could alway double, triple, or quadruple the pattern to make an even larger blanket. The one I made measures about 23 inches long by 19 inches wide. The small size works up extremely quickly making it an easy gift idea. I’ve already decided that this will be the first of many “playnket” designs so stay tuned!
Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Lime, Mustard, Charcoal Grey, and Silver Grey.
I used 2 skeins of Lime, 1 skein of Charcoal Grey and less than a half skein of Mustard and Silver.
The cars are made using Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Scarlet, Colonial Blue, and Mustard.
– Size I (5.5mm) crochet hook
– Tapestry needle
– Poly-fil stuffing (for cars)
– Large black buttons (for cars)
Abbreviations:
SC = Single Crochet
Ch = Chain
Note about pattern: The pattern is very simple! SC + chain 1, skip a stitch, SC + chain 1, repeat. But here is the catch… You need to make sure you start and end each row with a SC stitch. On the odd number rows, this happens naturally. You will see that you SC + chain 1, skip a stitch and then you are able to end with a SC in the last stitch. BUT in the even number rows (starting with row 2), you will notice you have one extra stitch left on the end and so you will end up with two single crochets next to each other.
Same goes for the beginning of the rows. The odd number rows you can begin as usual (SC + chain 1, skip a stitch, SC in next space)… but on the even number rows you need to make a SC in the first stitch and then begin your SC + chain, skip a stitch, SC in next space)
Don’t let this confuse you. You will see this happen naturally when you begin the pattern.
I really love this stitch. It looks the same from the front and back gives a great texture. It’s the same stitch I used in my Crochet “I love You” Blanket.
Race Track Blanket
with green yarn…
Chain 70, SC in second chain from hook, chain 1, skip a chain, SC in next, repeat down chain, chain 1 , turn
Row 2: SC in first, SC in chain space + chain 1, skip a stitch, SC + chain 1 in next chain space, repeat until end, SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC + chain 1 in first, skip stitch, SC + chain 1 in next chain space, repeat, chain 1, turn
Row 4-14: repeat rows 2-3 (alternating).. remember it’s the same pattern, you just need to start and end with an “extra” SC on the even rows.
change to dark gray yarn
Row 15-18: continue repeating pattern where you left off
change to yellow yarn
Row 19: continue repeating pattern where you left off
change to dark gray yarn
Row 19-22: continue repeating pattern where you left off
Repeat entire pattern until you have 3 race tracks and 4 patches of green. Each block of green is 14 rows. Each race track has 4 rows of gray + one row of yellow + 4 rows of gray.
Border: Starting at any point on the blankets edge, attach light gray yarn and use the same pattern on the border as you did in the blanket: SC + chain 1, skip a stitch, SC all the way around. On the first round of the border make 2 SC + Chain 1 the corners. Make 3 rounds of the border before fastening off and weaving in ends.
Crochet Cars: I made the cars by using a size G hook and following THIS TINY CROCHET CARS PATTERN by the talented Dedri of Look What I Made. I love her version of these cute little cars, but in order to simplify it, I stopped after round 11 of her pattern and began making SC Decreases until closed. The remaining rounds will look like this:
Round 12: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around
Round 13: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around
Round 14: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around
Round 15: SC Decrease until closed.
Be sure to stuff the car and weave in ends before sewing shut!!
Crochet Fox Lovey Blanket
I had the urge to make another lovey blanket and with a little help from my Facebook Friends I started on the much requested Fox! This popular and trendy woodland creature is my 7th lovey blanket pattern and it just might be one of my top two favorites! After a lot of searching online and at my local craft stores, I finally found the fox fleece fabric at Jo-Ann’s. Hoping you guys have more luck than I did! Enjoy the pattern!
Materials:
– Fox fleece fabric (found at Jo-Ann’s). I purchased a half yard which is more than enough for one. My blanket is about 12 inches long by 10 inches wide (at widest point)
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in terracotta orange, black, and white
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Rotary Cutter and Skip Stitch Blade:
I purchased my skip stitch blade from the Project Linus website but unfortunately it looks like it is no longer available there. You can find the same one HERE on the Skip-Stitch website. I have the “original skip stitch blade” (Blade #1) and you will need a Fiskars 45mm Contour Rotary Cutter which I purchased from Amazon.
– Darice Animal Safety Noses 18mm
– Poly-fil stuffing
– Stitch marker
– Tapestry needle

Crochet Even Moss Stitch Blanket: The base of my Animal Alphabet Afghan
A lot of you have been asking for the blanket pattern that will be the base of my Animal Alphabet Afghan. Even though I am not finished with it yet, I wanted to go ahead and show you the pattern I am working on so you can get started!
I am creating a solid color blanket using the Even Moss Stitch. This is a very simple stitch that creates a beautiful texture. It consists of a slip stitch and HDC repeating. NewStitchADay.com has a great pattern and video tutorial on how to make this stitch. You can see it HERE.
Here is my initial thought for the animal alphabet afghan: I thought the bumpy texture will allow me to easily sew the appliquĂ©s on without much stitching showing on the back (crossing my fingers that this is the case). A detailed tutorial on how to sew on the appliquĂ©s will come later, don’t worry 🙂 I also plan on either using the Moogly Crochet Alphabet to create letters that will also be sewn on OR I will surface slip stitch the letters next to the animals. I will also add a border…what kind of border? I am not sure yet… but of course I will show you when I figure that out as well. I plan on spacing them out similar to the photo below. I don’t plan on making each animal and letter evenly spaced or level. I think they will be more staggered.
Feel free to use the Even Moss Stitch for your next afghan or if you are working on the Animal Afghan OR you can crochet solid “grit stitch” squares like in my Daisy Afghan Or you could make something similar to what I did in my “I Love You Blanket.”
Dinosaur Lovey Blanket Crochet Pattern

I purchased my skip stitch blade from the Project Linus website but unfortunately it looks like it is no longer available there. You can find the same one HERE on the Skip-Stitch website. I have the “original skip stitch blade” (Blade #1) and you will need a Fiskars 45mm Contour Rotary Cutter which I purchased from Amazon.

Crochet “I Love You” Blanket
Crochet Love Bug Lovey Blanket
I’ve been having so much fun creating lovey blankets over the past couple years. I’m always on the look-out for fun fleece fabrics to inspire new blanket designs… like this one! This Love Bug Lovey is the perfect handmade gift for your little one on Valentine’s Day. And if this one is too girly, check out my LoveBot Lovey for the boys!
I found this heart fleece blanket at Safeway when I was grocery shopping (as a part of their Valentine’s Day display). It is a big blanket and was on sale for $8. I have a couple other projects in mind for this fabric so it was well worth it. If you don’t have a Safeway Grocery Store in your area, I am sure you can find very similar heart fabric in your local fabric store. Jo-Ann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby have great selections!
Materials:
– Heart Fleece Fabric (about 2 ft x 2ft)
– Rotary Cutter and Skip Stitch Blade:
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Safety Eyes (or black buttons for eyeballs)
– Poly-Fil Stuffing
– Tapestry Needle
– Stitch Marker

Cut a tall trapezoid type shape from your fleece fabric. Each side of mine is 12″ long.
Run your Skip Stitch Blade about a half inch or so from all edges of your fabric. Use ruler edge to help you create a straight line.
Take your yarn and hook and SC + Chain 1 along the holes in the fabric. Fasten off and weave in ends when you are done.
Bug Head Pattern:
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, continue to SC in rounds
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around (30 SC)
Round 4-13: SC in each stitch around (30 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Do not stuff and close yet. Sew on eyes, mouth and antennae first.
Bug Eyes (make 2):
with white yarn…
Magic ring, chain 2 and make 10 DC inside ring. Join to first DC.
Fasten off leaving tail to sew onto head.
After sewing eyes on, add your safety eyes or sew on black buttons for eyeballs)
Bug Antennae (make 2):
with brown or black yarn…
Chain 8, make 5 HDC in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch the rest of the way down chain.
Fasten off and sew onto top of head.
Bug Mouth is just a tiny little “V” sewn on with white yarn and a tapestry needle.
Now that you have all your face pieces sewn onto the head, stuff lightly with poly-fil and sew the bottom of the head shut. I actually SC the bottom of the head together. It made a nice edge! Then I used my tapestry needle to sew it onto the top of the fleece blanket edge.
Wings (make 4):
They also make perfect hearts!
Chain 11, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down, chain 1, turn (10 SC)
Row 2: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 8, 2 SC in last stitch, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 3-5: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 6: SC Decrease, SC in next 10 stitches, chain 1, turn
Row 7: SC in next 6 stitches, chain 1, turn (6 SC)
Row 8-13: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (6 SC)

Crochet Owl Lovey Blanket
If you’ve been following my blog for awhile you have probably seen my other Lovey blankets including a monster, puppy, and robot! Now I am adding one more to the list: an owl! Since owls are very popular right now, you shouldn’t have a hard time finding owl-themed fabric at your local fabric store. I saw at least 3 or 4 different owl patterned fabric when I was shopping at Jo-Ann’s (which is where I bought the fleece for this project).
Materials:
– Fleece fabric (I purchased a yard but you will only need a 10.5×12″ piece of it)
– Worsted weight yarn: I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in pink poodle, pink, white and mustard (yellow)
– Large Safety Eyes
– Rotary Cutter and Skip Stitch Blade:
I purchased my skip stitch blade from the Project Linus website but unfortunately it looks like it is no longer available there. You can find the same one HERE on the Skip-Stitch website. Rd 7: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around
Step 1: Lighty stuff with poly-fil and sew shut.
Step 2: Now take your tapestry needle and weave it back about 2 stitches.
Step 3: Loop yarn around the stuffed foot and sew your needle back through the starting point. Pull tight. Do this twice.
Step 4: Weave your needle back towards the other side of the foot and repeat step 3.
Now you are going to want to sew all your pieces onto the fabric. Cut a 10.5 x 12″ piece of fabric (this is approximate. You can make yours any size you want). Trim the corners so they are slightly rounded. Now create holes around the edge to crochet through with a skip stitch blade and a ruler as a guide. Holes should be made about 1/2 inch from the edge.
Starting in any hole (preferably NOT the corner), crochet around the edge of the fleece by making a SC in each hole, chain 1, SC in next hole, repeating around.
Sew all the pieces onto the edge of the fabric. I get a lot of people asking me how to sew the pieces onto the edge of the fabric. All you need to do is weave your tapestry needle under the stitches you made around the fabric and then through the bottom of each piece. Hopefully this picture will help give a better visual.

Crochet Robot Lovey Blanket
I’ve had visions of a robot lovely blanket ever since I saw this adorable robot fabric at Hobby Lobby. This will be the third lovely blanket I have designed so for a more detailed tutorial, please see the first one I created: Monster Lovey Blanket.

-Poly-fil
-Size H Crochet Hook
-Tapestry Needle
-Robot fleece fabric (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)

Round 2: 2 SC in each around (12 SC)
Round 3-4: SC in each stitch around (12 SC)
Face:
Chain 11, SC in second ch from hook and rest of way down, ch 1, turn
Row 2 – 6: SC across, ch 1, turn. At end of round 6, continue to SC around sides and join to first SC.
Arm:
Magic ring, SC 8 in ring, continue to SC in rounds.
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around (16 SC)
Round 3 – 5: SC in each stitch around (16 SC)
Round 6: SC decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around.
Change color
Round 7-14: SC in each stitch around (12 SC)
Stuff head and limbs and sew closed. Use your tapestry needle to stitch onto sides of the fleece blanket after you crochet around the edges of it.
Cut a 10.5 x 12 piece of the fleece fabric. I created holes to crochet through with a skip stitch blade and a ruler as a guide. Holes should be made about a 1/2 inch from the edge. It is also helpful to cut the corners into rounded corners so it will lay down flat when you crochet the edge.
I purchase my skip stitch blade from the Project Linus website but unfortunately it looks like it is no longer available there. You can find the same one HERE on the Skip-Stitch website. I have the “original skip stitch blade” and you will need a Fiskars 45mm Contour Rotary Cutter which I purchased from Amazon.

I love the way it turned out, but to give you fair warning, this is much more complicated and time consuming than the monster blankets. There are A LOT of bits and pieces that need to be sewn together. But I think its worth it to get this uber cute puppy blanket 🙂

Bag, scarf, pillow, and more! Stop after round 3 of the pattern and the flower would make an adorable little keychain. Let me know what you decide to make!

I used Red Heart with Love yarn in colors Bubblegum pink, Cornsilk, and Eggshell white.

Thanks to fellow crocheter Janet Hubert who started working on the daisies and shared this picture with me! She says: “I am obsessed with this cute, easy, fast pattern from Yarnspirations called “field of daisies”. Thanks to Sarah for sharing it. I changed colors for rows 4 ad 5. Great stash buster! Mostly using Red Heart Super Saver and an I-hook.”
I love that she changed the color from round 4 to round 5. It really makes the flowers pop!

It’s March! Which means we are ready for the third square in our Under the Sea Crochet-Along! This jellyfish is so easy to crochet but the tedious part is stitching those tentacles onto the bubble square. Take your time, it will be worth it!
Not sure what this crochet-along is all about?Â
Let me introduce you to the FREEÂ 2024 Under the Sea Crochet-Along!
Over the next 12 months I will be crocheting 12 adorable ocean creature that will fit on a crochet square that looks like a water bubble. At the end of the year I will stitch them all together to make a blanket!
There will be a few bonus patterns as well!

Jellyfish Pattern:
Head:
with aruba sea blue yarn
Magic Ring, chain 2 and make 10 DC in ring, do not join, pull tight, chain 2, turn (10 DC)
Row 2: DC in first, 2 DC in next, repeat around, chain 2, turn (15 DC)
Row 3: DC in first 2 stitches, 2 DC in next, repeat around, chain 2, turn (20 DC)
Row 4: DC in first 3 stitches, 2 DC in next, repeat around, chain 2, turn (25 DC)
Row 5: DC in first 4 stitches, 2 DC in next, repeat around, do not turn (30 DC)
Row 6:working along bottom edge, SC in across for a total of 20 stitches, chain 1, turn
Row 7: SC along bottom edge, chain 1, turn (20 SC)
Row 8: skip a stitch, 6 DC in next (first scallop made), skip 2 stitches, slip stitch in next, repeat to make 4 scallops along bottom edge.Â
Fasten off leaving long tail.
With a strand of black yarn and your tapestry needle, create a smile in the middle of row 1 of the head.
Tentacles (make 5):
Feel free to use aruba sea or jade blue yarn (or combo of both!)
Chain 26, SC in 3rd chain from hook and the rest of the way up chain, fasten off leaving long tail.
curve the tentacles in different directions as you stitch them on underneath the head.Â
Crochet Cartoon Eyes Pattern – 1 inch eyes (Make 2):
Using a size G or F crochet hook
starting with black yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, pull tight, (6 SC)
join to first SC with jade color yarnÂ
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join to first SC with white yarn (12 SC)
Round 3:Â SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long strand of white. (12 SC)
Weave in all other loose ends.
With a strand of white yarn and your tapestry needle, create an eye reflection/sparkle by weaving the yarn through two stitches of the corner of the black pupil. I looped the yarn 2 times and then knotted it on the backside.Â
Stitch eyes on either side of the mouth.
My Crochet Cartoon Eyes is the pattern that keeps on giving! I have used them for so many different projects and they come in two sizes! >>> See the full Cartoon Eyes tutorial HERE <<<
Stitch the top of the head down to your bubble square, leave the scallops loose so you can stitch down the tentacles underneath the head before securing it.
If you want the backside of your bubble square to look clean, work your tapestry needle in-between the stitches on your bubble square so your sewing doesn’t show through on the other side. I will be adding the appliquĂ©s of all the sea creatures to the front and back of each square so my blanket will be reversible.
Curl and curl those tentacles as you stitch them down to make them wavy.
It’s never too late to dive into the Under the Sea CAL!

Crochet Red Heart All in One Granny Square Fingerless Mittens
You MUST get your hands on the new Red Heart All in One Granny Square Yarn! This yarn does all the color work for you with pre-set color lengths that change with each round of your granny square. I first made these super easy crochet granny square tree ornaments over Christmas and now I’m bringing you a new project that only require ONE BALL of this granny square yarn!
You can make 3 pairs of fingerless gloves/mittens in 3 different sizes with just 1 skein of Red Heart All in One Granny Square yarn!
They are sizes Small, Medium, and Large. The medium fits me with plenty of room (I am and adult x-small – very petit/short hands) so these would be good for an older child/teen. The small fits my 10yo daughter who is small for her age so I’d say these could fit most elementary age kids. The large will definitely fit an adult!
Shop all the shades of Granny Square yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com. I am using the colors “Hot Stuff” which is perfect for Valetine’s Day and the color “Frigid” which is perfect for the winter season!
The yarn is built to make a 5 round granny square but you can stop at any round after round 2 and then SAVE the yarn bits from the rounds you don’t crochet to create the fingerless gloves!
You will need to make 4 squares for each pair of gloves.
4 granny squares that stop after round 3
4 granny squares that stop after round 4
4 granny squares that stop after round 5
SAVE all the extra yarn that isn’t used.
The pattern for the granny squares is on the back of each label. Or you can use whichever 3 DC granny square pattern you feel comfortable with.
I have more info on the yarn and pattern HERE
Follow the video tutorial on my Repeat Crafter Me YouTube Channel or continue with the photo tutorial below.
Sandwich the mitts together and then start by connecting the top with two rounds of singles crochets.
I am working in the back loops only. You don’t want to close the top so go ahead and start by joining corners with a single crochet and then single crocheting along the edges, joining the other corner and back around to join to the first SC.
Now let’s make the ribbing for the wrists.
In the bottom, join two of the corners and chain 8. SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down the chain. Slip stitch in two stitches along the edge, turn, and SC in back loops only along the ribbing. Continue until you’ve worked around the entire bottom opening.
Next up is the thumb hole!
Join in remaining yarn about 3 or 4 stitches down from the top of the glove. SC in 4-5 stitches along both sides of granny squares. Remember that we are working in back loops only. Make one more round of SC along the thumb hole, fasten off and close sides of mitts with extra yarn strands.
I flipped the gloves inside out and used a basic whip stitch to stitch together side edges.
Make them in all the colors! Check out all the colors of Red Heart All in One Granny Square Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com.
And be sure to check out all of THESE granny square pattern ideas for more Red Heart All in One Granny Square project inspirations.
Not a fan of Granny Squares? Use the yarn in a different way! Crochet with it as you normally would for fun spots of colors like in THIS scrappy yarn hat or even a blanket!

Crochet Starfish – Under the Sea CAL Square 1
We are kicking off the year-long Under the Sea CAL Blanket with a Crochet Starfish to adorn our first square! This smiling starfish is super quick to crochet and I suggest making two so you can sew one on the front and back of the water bubble square.
Not sure what I’m talking about?
Let me introduce you to the FREE 2024 Under the Sea Crochet-Along!
Over the next 12 months I will be crocheting an adorable ocean creature that will fit on a crochet square that looks like a water bubble. At the end of the year I will stitch them all together to make a blanket!
Right now our ocean friends are just fun clip art images but each month I will transform them into cute crochet sea creature appliqués. The walrus, stingray, and orca (which can also be a dolphin by changing the colors) will be our bonus patterns!
You can get started on crocheting all of your water bubble squares now. Get the Circle in a Square Water Bubble pattern HERE.
FAQ: Can you give me the yarn color list and amounts for the entire project?
Answer: Unfortunately I do not have the yarns picked out yet. I am crocheting these as I go month to month. This is not a finished project. We are crocheting this together! I am using Red Heart Super Saver yarn for the entire blanket so you can pick and choose your colors based on the clip art image above if you’d like. In addition, the water bubble squares can be crocheted all at once since they are the backdrop to all the sea creatures. I have details about the yarn colors and how much you will need for the squares HERE on the water bubble pattern page.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in color Carrot Orange.
Shop all colors of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn HERE
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Long strand of black yarn for the eyes/mouth
– Tapestry Needle
Finished Size of Starfish: Approximately 7 x 7 inches
Follow the video tutorial or the pattern and photo tutorial below!
Starfish Pattern:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, (20 SC)
Round 4: Chain 8, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next 3 stitches, DC in last 3. Now you have made one of the points of the star. Skip three stitches and join with a slip stitch to the next stitch. Now Chain 8 and repeat process until you have all 5 points. Join, chain 1
Round 5: SC in each stitch around all the edges of the 5 points, making 3 SC all in one stitch at the top of each point, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 6: SC one more time around all the edges of the 5 points, making 2 SC at the top of each point, join, fasten off leaving long tail.
With your tapestry needle and a long strand of black yarn, stitch on two eyes on either side of round 2 and a smiling mouth between rounds 2 and 3 under the eyes. My goal is to avoid using safety eyes and noses for this project and I think this will be a good way to improve on those embroidery skills.
The links to all the patterns in this project will be available in one spot HERE on the Under the Sea CAL Landing Page.
The next sea creature will be posted in February! Happy swimming stitching!

Crochet Hearts in a Row Striped Hat
I’m on a roll with making crochet striped beanies! This time I added a round of cluster stitches to the stripe that look like sweet little hearts. I actually surprised myself with how simple this was to design and make!
Pattern below is for newborn to adult sizes and I’ve included a video tutorial for the heart stripe to clear up any confusion. It’s the season of love and you will need this pattern on your hook for all your valentines.
I am using Red Heart with Love Yarn in colors Berry Red, Eggshell White, and Sweet Pink. You can use these interchangeably for all the parts of the hat but the tutorial below will use the sweet pink as the main color. I’m also using these colors (plus bubble gum) for my Valentine Granny Stitch Blanket so be sure to pick up multiple skeins of this yarn! It’s super soft and snuggly.
You can shop all these colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com!
NOTE: Red Heart with Love yarn in color Sweet Pink is currently not listed on the Yarnspirations website. But it’s available in a 3-pack in the Red Heart Store on Amazon.com!
Materials:
– Red Heart with Love Yarn in Berry Red, Eggshell White, and Sweet Pink.

Hearts in a Stripe Hat Pattern
Note: Pattern works from the top down
Special Stitch = Heart Cluster
Yarn over pull through first stitch, pull through 2 loops (making the first half of your DC), yarn over and pull up through same stitch, pull through 2 loops, you should now have 3 loops on your hook, working in the next stitch repeat the same 2 stitches so you have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 stitches.
Special Stitch = Elongated Double Crochet (Long DC)
When you are working your DC stitches between the heart clusters, one of your double crochets will reach down to the previous round. Yarn over pull through bringing up that loop up to the height of the double crochet before it. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through last two loops.
I got over the special stitches for the row of hearts in the video tutorial below:
NOTE: When you finish the round of heart clusters and you have an extra stitch at the end without enough room to make one more heart, go ahead and make a DC to finish the round. You want to have the same amount of stitches as your last increase round.
Size: Newborn
with sweet pink yarn

RIBBED BORDER:
Please be sure and watch THIS TUTORIAL from my friend Daisy Farm Crafts on how to make a single crochet ribbed border. I love this technique because you don’t need to sew the ribbing on separately, it is crochet right onto the edge of the hat! It’s basically a chain 7 (or however long/short your want your ribbed border), SC in each chain until you get back to the hat edge, slip stitch in two stitches along the hat edge and then SC in the back loops of the ribbing and repeat. She has a VERY easy tutorial to follow and you can use this border on many different projects.
When you’ve finished the ribbed border along the edge of the hat you can slip stitch the seam together.
Add a Pom-Pom! I love THIS multi pack of fur poms from Amazon (affiliate link). They have multiple colors and a little loop underneath that you can sew onto the top of your hat.
Buy these pom-poms HERE. $15 for 20 of them!

Deer and Reindeer Crochet Square
Oh DEER, it’s already December! The year flew by and I hope you have enjoyed all this Animal Square Crochet-Along. For our last square in the series we have a Deer or a Reindeer or if you are feeling festive, Rudolph with his red nose! Lots of ways to customize each and every one of these squares.
Over the next week I will show you how to join the squares to make them into a blanket. I plan on using white or a neutral color for the edges and joins. I’m not sure what colors I will use for the border yet. I made two of every animal square and will first crochet each of them together back-to-back. Then I will join them and create a border.
If you aren’t familiar with my Animal Square CAL you can read all about it HERE.
Each month (January through December of 2023) I posted a new Crochet Animal Square. These are simple crochet squares that are embellished with adorable animal faces! These squares work up quickly and won’t take you more than an hour or two. This project is extremely beginner friendly and you can add more or less embellishments. Customize to your liking!
As I mentioned above, I will be stitching these all together to make a blanket but they could also be turned into a pillow(s), a scarf, or any other creative way you’d like to use them.
Now let’s make an adorable deer!
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Cafe Latte, Coffee, Buff Beige for the Reindeer (and Cherry Red for Rudolf if you are making his red nose)
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Buff Beige, Aran, and Cafe Latte for the Deer
Shop all these beautiful shades of brown HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Two black safety eyes (oval or round will work) HERE are the oval eyes I used
– Tapestry needle

Row 2-23: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
now continue making a SC in the 3 sides (2 Chains in each corner)

Chain 12, DC in 3rd chain from hook and in next 8, 3 DC in last chain. Now working on other side of chain, DC in each stitch and make 3 DC in last stitch. Join to first DC, chain 2. (24 DC)
Round 2: (2 DC in first stitch, DC in next stitch), repeat around. (36 DC)

Stitch in Season Crochet Along
I am hosting a new stitch along over at Yarnspirations.com in collaboration with Red Heart Yarn! Gingerbread House Crochet Square
This gingerbread house pixel graph can be used for so many different projects! I designed it with the idea of making it into a gingerbread house blanket as a part of my house blanket series (see the Winter Cabin and the Haunted Halloween House) and I still plan on creating a corner-to-corner crochet version of this, but first I made it into a little single crochet square!
I used the plain gingerbread house pixel graph for this single crochet square. Each of the squares in the pixel graph = one single crochet stitch. I decided to use a size G hook but a larger hook would work as well. With only 3 colors, it was easy to change color when needed without too many ends to weave in.
Start with a chain of 26 and then work in rows from the bottom up, following the color changes.
The house color is Bernat Super Value in color Topaz (the perfect Gingerbread color!)
The background is Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red.
You will also need white, spring green, lavender, and saffron yellow.
I added the embellishments on top by using a lot of surface slip stitching.
If you need help with the surface slip stitch technique, I have a video tutorial HERE.
The candy canes are surface slip stitching with both white and red strands of yarn at the same time. The gumdrops along the roofline are about 3-4 surface slip stitches in the same place to create the look of a larger French knot. Then I tied the loose ends on the backside.
The heart pattern = with red yarn, chain 3, 2 DC in first chain + slip stitch in first chain, chain 3 again, 2 DC + slip stitch in first chain. Fasten off.
The door is crocheted by following the pixel graph. 1 pixel = 1 single crochet stitch.
So what will I used this little 6×7 inch crochet gingerbread house for? I am going add it to a gingerbread Hexi Cardi I’m working on as the pockets! More information on the Gingerbread Themed Hexagon Cardigan coming soon. But honestly, this square could be a cute purse, treat pouch, mini pillow, a square in a larger granny square blanket, and more!
Feel free to grab the graphs and get started on this pattern in time for the holidays! Use it however you’d like.

Penguin Crochet Square
How is it already November and how is it possible that this Penguin is the second to last square in our Animal Square CAL?! This year sure flew by! Stitch up this precious penguin and get ready for lots of tutorials at the beginning of December that show the final square and how to piece together the blanket!
If you aren’t familiar with my Animal Square CAL you can read all about it HERE.
Each month (January through December of 2023) I will post a new Crochet Animal Square. These are simple crochet squares that are embellished with adorable animal faces! These squares work up quickly and won’t take you more than an hour or two. This project is extremely beginner friendly and you can add more or less embellishments. Customize to your liking!
At the end of the year, I will be stitching these all together to make a blanket! But they could also be turned into a pillow(s), a scarf, or any other creative way you’d like to use them.

Peace Sign Crochet Square
Peace Out Single Digits! This girl is 10! It’s my daughter Zoe’s 10th birthday today and if you’ve been following my blog since the beginning, you will remember when she was a newborn!
She’s been my little crochet model since day 1 and I am so thankful that she still loves to be in front of the camera and cheers me on with every project idea. She hasn’t had the urge to learn to crochet herself but I will give it more time. Right now she is into theater, musical dance, skin care, organizing, and shopping (especially at the craft store!).
She wanted a little room refresh for her birthday so I think I will make this square into a larger blanket with other groovy symbols. Something similar to my Daisy Aghan (see it here) but using the peace sign, a heart, and the daisy flower. I will be sure to post more about this project as I work on it!
I love these pastel colors from the Red Heart With Love line of yarn. They are going to be perfect in her room and the yarn is super soft!
Materials:
– Red Heart with Love in colors Blush (purple) and Minty.
Shop Red Heart with Love HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Finished Size: Approximately 6.5 x 6.5 inches
Grit Stitch Square:
with minty yarn
Chain 25, SC in third chain from hook, *skip one chain, 2 SC in next, repeat from * until the end of your chain except you will need to make only one SC in the last chain, Chain 1, Turn.Â
Row 2-21:Â SC in first stitch, *skip one stitch, make 2 SC in next, repeat from * until the end of your row EXCEPT you will need to make only one SC in the last stitch, chain 1, turn.Â
After row 21, continue to SC around entire square for a more finished edge, making 3 SC in each corner.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
NOTE: you could absolutely make a a basic SC square instead of using the grit stitch.
Peace Sign Circle:
with purple yarn
Chain 40, join to first chain to create a circle, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next, repeat around, join, fasten off leaving long tail.
Peace Sign Middle Line:
with purple yarn
Chain 16, DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in the remaining chains, fasten off leaving long tail.
Peace Sign Short Lines (Make 2):
with purple yarn
Chain 8, DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in the remaining chains, fasten off leaving long tail.
Attaching your peace sign pieces to the square:
Start by stitching on the outer edge of your circle to the square with your tapestry needle. Leave the inner circle for now. You will want to be able to tuck the other pieces under it.
Stitch down the main vertical line and tuck both ends in the top and bottom of circle as you stitch it down.
Now add the two smaller lines. The straighter edge to the piece should butt up against the middle line. Tuck the other side under the circle.
Now you can go over the inner part of the circle and make sure it is all stitched down.
I love that the meaning of the peace sign conveys a desire for peace and harmony, as well as non-violence and goodwill.
Stay tuned for more on this project!
Happy Birthday Zoe!

SC two leaves together by placing them back to back and making a SC in each stitch until you get to the 8 DC stiches at the base of the leaf, make 2 SC in each of those stitches, continue to SC in the rest and join. No need to stuff with polyfil.
I stitched my leaves securely on the top of the stems upside down so the tip of the leave was point downward. Crochet Gnome Border
Excuse me while I go rip out the border on my Corner-to-Corner Crochet Gnome Blanket and add this masterpiece to it instead! Fellow crocheter Trina has come up with the perfect border for the gnome blanket I made last year: It’s a GNOME BORDER! Just look at these adorable little gnomes all in a row. You could actually make an entire blanket just out rows of gnomes!
You can find Trina on Facebook on her page I Make Yarn Pretty, Instagram @yarnpretty and her Etsy Shop YarnPretty. Give her a follow if you can!
Trina posted her incredible gnome blanket and border design in my Repeat Crafter Me Crochet Facebook Group and it has gained a lot of attention. She private messaged me to say she didn’t have a pattern for the border but if I could make sense of her notes, she would be happy if I could post a pattern.
I worked through her notes (which I will also post below) and came up with a simplified version that would be easy for you to follow. My simplified pattern is worked in rows and the starting chain of 32 (16 in the video) is just to show you the technique as a sample project.
If you were using it as a border, you would continue the gnomes for as along as you could go on the edges of your blanket. Then make SC stitches in any extra space along the edge plus a SC + chain 1 + SC in the corners. The pattern below is written in rows so you can get a feel for the pattern. Again, if you were working this into a border you wold work in rounds and disregard the chain 1 + turn.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Blue, Light Blue (Delft Blue), Cherry Red, Beige, White, Caffe Latte Brown, Spring Green, Dark Green (Paddy Green).
– Size H Crochet Hook
GET THE GNOME BORDER VIDEO TUTORIAL ON MY REPEAT CRAFTER ME YOUTUBE PAGE

Row 3 (hats of gnome): Join in red yarn, Chain 1, turn, SC in first stitch, slip stitch in next, skip a stich, 5 DC in next, Skip 1 stitch, slip stitch into the next, repeat around, make a SC in last stitch.
Row 4 (gnome face/noses): Join in beige yarn, chain 1, turn, SC in first stitch, SC in next 2 stiches working in the DC stitches from row 2. Work a 3 stitch bobble into the 3rd DC of the hat round, then SC into the next 3 of the DC stitches from row 2. (your bobble nose anchors the DC cluster and makes the nose more visible). Repeat for the rest of the round, make a SC in last stitch.
Row 5 (gnome beard): Join the white yarn, chain 1, turn, SC in first stitch, chain 2, Dc5tog over the next 5 stitches to create the beard, chain 2, 5dctog, chain 2, and repeat around, make a SC in last stitch.
Row 6 (gnome shoes): Join in brown yarn, chain 1, turn, make a SC in first stitch, chain 2, 3 stitch bobble into the stitch before beard and another 3 stitch bobble in stitch created by the dc5tog, chain 2 and repeat making a SC in last stitch.
Row 7 (light green grass): Join in light green yarn, chain 1, turn, make a SC in first stitch, 2 SC over both chain 2’s from Row 5 and Row 6, SC in next 2 stitchs over the bobble shoes, 2 SC over next chain 2 space, repeat until end, make a SC in last stitch. (31 SC)
Row 8 (light green grass continued): continuing with light green yarn, chain 1, turn and make a SC in each stitch across, (31 SC)
Row 9 (dark green grass): Join in dark green yarn, SC in each stitch across. (31 SC)
Repeat starting at Row 1 to make rows of gnomes or use this as a border on a blanket.
These are the pattern notes that Trina sent in case you want to try to replicate what she did:
Starting on one corner I did one round of SC (1sc, ch 1, 1sc on each corner, straight sc on the sides). Joined a second color, and did a full round of DC in that color (1dc, ch1, 1dc in each corner as before). Joined the hat color, sc into any stitches before the corner, place (1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc) in the corner, then stitched into the a couple stitches after the corner to make it look symmetrical. The gnome itself is worked over 5 stitches. Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch, and only after each corner to give it a bit of height for the dc clusters coming up), sk 2 sts, 5dc into the next, sk 1 st, sl into the next, and repeat around. SC into any extra stitches at the corners if you have them. Switch to the ‘face’ color, SC into the previous round up to and including the corners, and any extra stitches you had after the corner and up to the first stitch of your first dc cluster, then begin working into the previous round of dc (not the hat round, the one before that). SC in next 2, work a 3 st bobble into the 3rd DC of the hat round, then dc into the next 2 of the previous round (your bobble nose anchors the dc cluster and makes the nose more visible). Continue this way for the rest of the round. Join the beard color, and sc up to the corner. 1sc, ch1, 1scinto the corne, and sc into any stitches up the the first dc in your hat cluster. Dc5tog to create the beard. Not sure if things right, but to get the beard symmetrical, I completed the first part of 3 dc into each of the first 3 st, then on the 3rd, completed the next part of the stitch, leaving 3 Loops on my hook, and did the same for the next 2 stitches, each time leaving 3 Loops on my hook before moving to the next stitch, and then completed the last stitch entirely, and it left the peak of the beard centered. Any other way I tried it, the beard was off center. Chain 4, 5dctog in the next stitch, and repeat around. At each corner, I did a ch 2 instead of a ch 5, before sc into the remaining stitches up to the corner. Join grass color. Sc into any open stitches up to the corner, 1 sc, ch1, 1sc in the corner, and sc into any open stitches up to your gnome grouping, work 2 sc over the ch2 from the previous round, pulling up the shoe color as your last loop. 3 st bobble into the stitch created by the dc5tog, and again over the chain on the other side of the beard. Using the grass color, 3 sc over both the shoe color and the ch sts from the previous round, pulling up the shoe color on your last st. Repeat as before. Then after that, I just did another full round of SC in grass color, and one more in another color, before finishing off.
Thank you Trina for allowing me to post your work and share it with our crochet community!

Koala Crochet Square
Grab that gray yarn because we are about to stitch up the 8th square in our Animal Square CAL! This cute Koala fits right in with the other adorable animals. The little flower is optional but adds a sweet pop of color! Just like the other squares, this is very easy and you can always customize these animals to your liking.
Keep in mind that I am making 2 of each square so I can place them back-to-back to make our finished blanket reversible.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Dusty Gray (for the background/ears/feet), Light Gray (for the border/ears/feet) and Charcoal (for the nose). You will also need a bit of pink and purple for the flower (the same pink and purple from the pig and hippo!)
Shop Red Heart Super Saver Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– Safety eyes (12mm) optional
It has come to my attention that some of these grays are sold out on Yarnspirations.com. The Red Heart Store on Amazon has them available for purchases!
First let’s make the Square:
With dusty gray yarn
Chain 21, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2-23: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
now continue making a SC in the 3 sides (2 Chains in each corner)
join in light gray yarn, fasten off dusty gray, SC in each stitch all the way around 4 sides making 2 SC in each corner.
Fasten off weave in ends.
NOTE: Remember the backside of your square can be messy! We are going sandwich two squares together to make the blanket completely reversible.
Koala Ear (make 2):
Starting with light gray
Magic ring, chain 2 and make 8 DC in ring, pull tight but do not join, chain 2, turn
Row 2: DC in first, 2 DC in next, repeat around, join in dusty gray, chain 2, turn
Row 3: 2 DC in each stitch around, fasten off.
Stitch bottom edge of ears onto either side of the top of the square a pictured. See video for additional help placing and sewing on face embellishments.
Nose:
With charcoal yarn
Chain 5, SC in second chain from hook, SC in next two, 3 SC in last, now working on other side of chain, SC in each stitch across, join to first SC, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round 2: SC in first 3, 2 SC in next 4, SC in last 3, join to first SC.
Fasten off leaving long tail.
Stitch nose onto middle of square. Place safety eyes (or crocheted eye) on either side of the top of the nose.
How about using my crochet cartoon eyes for these animals squares?! The smaller version would work great for most of them! GET THE FREE CARTOON EYES PATTERN HERE. They are a great safety eye alternative.
Feet (make 2):
Starting with light gray
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join in dusty gray, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in first 4, 2 SC in remaining 6 stitches, join, fasten off.
Stitch feet onto either side of the bottom of the square, angled outward.
Take a strand of charcoal yarn and your tapestry needle, weave yarn around top edge of feet in 3 different places to make the cute little claws.
Flower (optional):
starting with pink yarn
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join in purple yarn,
Round 2: Chain 2 + 2 DC + Chain 2 all in one stitch, slip stitch over to the next stitch and repeat Chain 2 + 2 DC + Chain 2 (you will slip stitch that last chain two back to same stitch). You should have 6 petals!
Fasten off and stitch flower onto edge of the right ear.

Ollie the Owl with Crochet Cartoon Eyes and Red Heart Super Saver Yarn
Ollie the Owl has a new look! Those Crochet Cartoon Eyes work so well as a replacement for the safety eyes I used in the original pattern. This crochet owl has become a fan favorite over the past two years so this is also a good time to give you some updates.
GET THE FREE OLLIE THE OWL PATTERN HERE
GET THE FREE CROCHET CARTOON EYES PATTERN HERE
O’Go yarn has been discontinued. I am really bummed about it because Ollie was specifically created to be used with Bernat Blanket O’Go yarn. Fortunately we have lots of replacement yarn options and this pattern can continue to be stitched up!
Option #1: You can absolutely still use Bernat Blanket Yarn for Ollie the Owl. It is still available in 300g or 600g skeins just not in O’Go format. Lots of color options as well! Shop Bernat Blanket Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com. NOTE: Bernat Blanket O’Go is currently still available on clearance.
Option #2: You can crochet Ollie the Owl using worsted weight yarn! I am using a double strand of Red Heart Super Saver yarn to make all the parts (except the cartoon eyes. That is a single strand pattern). It turned out great! Just hold to strands of yarn together and use the size K/10.5 (6.5 mm) hook as stated in the pattern.
I do want to mention that I added an extra two rounds of single crochets to the body. I felt like it needed a bit more height. So after Round 15 you will make 2 more rounds of SC in each stitch around. Then continue on to the head part of the pattern as written. It also helps to add an extra round of SC stitches to the wings and feet.
OR you can crochet Ollie the Owl just as the pattern is written with a single strand of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn! He turned out so small and cute. A miniature crochet owl that measures about 5.5 inches tall by 6 inches wide! ALSO I used the smaller version of the cartoon eyes for the single strand owl.
For the versions you see here in this post, I am using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in colors Perfect Pink and Shocking Pink. For the double strand version use the K hook and for the single strand version use the H hook. Use the larger 2 inch cartoon eyes for the double strand owl and the smaller 1 inch eyes for the single strand mini owl.
For reference, the double stranded worsted weight yarn version of Ollie the Owl is still a bit smaller than the original I crocheted using Bernat Blanket Yarn.
What colors will you use?! You can’t go wrong with the plethora of shades from Red Heart Super Saver!
Ollie the Owl is the last project in my series of crochet patterns using the Cartoon Eyes!

Crochet Sea Turtle Plushie
Here is the second project in my Crochet Cartoon Eye series! This time I used the smaller version of the cartoon eyes and made a Sea Turtle. Yes, there are now two sizing options for the eye pattern! The larger original pattern is about 2 inches in diameter and the smaller eyes as seen on the sea turtle are about 1 inch in diameter.

No need to stuff tail.Â
Pinch opening closed and stitch onto bottom of shell, opposite from head.
When attaching the head/flippers/tail, try to work your needle at least one row below the edge of the shell. You will need the stitches from the last row later to attach to sew the bottom and top of shell together.
Feel free to leave the ends a big long. They are going to be hidden inside the turtle.
Lay the top of shell and bottom shell together. They have the same amount of stitches so they should match up.
You are going to be working your tapestry needle in the unused back loops of Round 13 of your top shell and the edge stitches of your bottom shell. Stuff with poly-fil as you go!
Belly up!
Pay attention to detail! The flippers can be put on either way (with the curved edge facing front or backwards) just make sure they are consistent.
The cartoon eyes can be stitched on with the “eye sparkle” on the bottom of the eye or in the corner or at the top! It’s gives it a different expression with different placements.
The Bernat Blanket Crochet Sea Turtle works up even quicker!

Round 27: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 28: in front loops only, skip a stitch, 6 DC in next stitch, skip a stitch, join to next with a slip stitch, skip a stitch, 6 DC in next, skip a stitch, join to next with a slip stitch, repeat around and join. This makes the scalloped edge. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Stitch on your crochet cartoon eyes about 3 stitches apart from each other and about 8 rows up from the bottom.
Stitch on a smile between eyes with black yarn.
Start stuffing jellyfish with Poly-fil fiber stuffing. You will finish stuffing the jellyfish as you attach the bottom piece.
Bottom of Jellyfish Body:

Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)

Round 7: 2 SC in first, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, (50 SC)
Round 8-9: SC in each stitch around, join, (50 SC)
Fasten off leaving extra long tail.
Tentacles (Coils):Â
Chain anywhere between 60-80 (they can be different lengths), 2 SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down. Fasten off. Leave loose ends to tie onto underside of jellyfish.
Make as many coils as you want! I made 4 in aruba sea and 4 in minty.
So this could be an octopus as well with 8 tentacles!
Attach coils to bottom piece. Tie tightly and don’t worry too much about weaving ends because they will be on the inside of the jellyfish.
Stitch bottom of jellyfish to the jellyfish head (make sure coils are attach first) to the jellyfish body.
Using your tapestry needle, sew edges of the bottom piece to the back loops of the last round of the jellyfish body. There are 50 stitches on both edges so they should line up perfectly.
Finish stuffing with polyfil before completely closing the bottom.

Pig Crochet Square
The year is flying by! We are already on our 7th square in the Animal Square Crochet-Along and this month we have a pretty pink piglet! Just look at that curly-q tail!
