Drilled Pumpkins

October 29, 2011

This is another awesome idea I found on Pinterest. And it was much easier than struggling to cut into the pumpkin with a large kitchen knife or one of those flimsy knives from the grocery store pumpkin carving kits. Although it was messier than I thought it would be. With every hole you drill, little bits of pumpkin come flying out. Next year we will definitely do this outside rather than the kitchen table.

I haven't done this yet, but I'm trying it this year. I found on another website to use colored Glow Sticks instead of a string of lights or a candle. As always the project looks better in my head then reality, but if I follow a paisley pattern with various sized drill bits, I'm sure it will look amazing!

I saw an idea to use drills for pumpkins in a Better Homes and Garden magazine back in 1986. We did a bunch of them and decorated our porch for our daughter’s second birthday with them (her birthday is 2 days after Halloween). It was then, and still is a really cool idea.
