Little Brother turned one last month and I finally got around to scheduling his 1st birthday photo shoot with our photographer this past weekend. Naturally, I frantically started creating photo props for his session. I knew I was going to make another No-Sew Number Shirt and then I remembered a tutorial for a crochet party hat that I thought would be a perfect outfit accessory for his cake smash.
HERE is the crochet party hat pattern and step by step tutorial on how to reinforce it with card stock paper. On my hat I added on a chin strap and button.
Chin Strap Pattern:
After Round 25 when you have finished your deep stitches…
Continue to slip stitch halfway around the hat (25 stitches).
Chain approx 45. (You will probably want to measure this on your child in order to get the correct length). SC in 4th chain from hook (this leaves a loop to connect it to the button).
SC the rest of the way down the chain.
When you get to the bottom of the hat, continue to slip stitch the rest of the way around (25 stitches).
Leave a tail to sew on a button.
