I Love You to the Moon and Back Cookies

January 11, 2013

Guess How Much I Love You is such a wonderful children’s book and one of my favorites! At the end of the book Little Nutbrown Hare tells his daddy that he loves him all the way to the moon. But Big Nutbrown Hare tell his son he loves him all the way to the moon AND back 🙂 This is so sweet it had to be made into a Valentine’s Day gift (or really a gift for any time you want to tell someone how much you love them!) So we made moon and star sugar cookies and I created a printable tag with the message “I love you to the moon and back” to attach to our sweet gift.

You don’t need a moon shaped cookie cutter to make moons. Two circle cutters (one slightly larger than the other) will work perfectly.

Big brother did a great job decorating his cookies. He was very focused and took his time with each sprinkle. But then when he wasn’t looking, little brother climbed up to the table and started eating the sprinkles off each cookie. That little stinker! 🙂

After we were done decorating, I packaged them in small cellophane bags and tied the top with some yarn. I made these tags which I printed on regular printer paper, punched a hole in the corner and attached to the bags.
You can download the free printable tags here:

I just love this cookie big brother made for his daddy!

This would be a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift from a child to a parent or parent to a child. Pair it with a copy of the book “Guess How Much I Love” for the perfect present 🙂

You always have the best ideas. You are quickly becoming my go-to website for every holiday! My husband always says this to me (to which I reply, "I love you from here to the table…"), and I think he would love this for Valentine's Day.

Now to make a mess in the kitchen without him noticing!
