Barn Card for Sprout TV

February 19, 2013

For the past 3 years I have been making and submitting handmade birthday cards to the Sprout Channel. If you aren’t familiar with Sprout, it’s a channel devoted to Preschoolers. They have a lot of great educational shows and every morning on the “Sunny Side Up Show” they feature a handful of birthday cards. Unfortunately we have yet to have our card make it on air, but hopefully this year will be our year! I know the boys would be sooo excited to see their birthday cards on TV. Here is a look at the card I made for little brother this year. It features Chica (the chicken) in her barn and the gang from The Chica Show.

Using a piece of red poster board, I folded it in half (crease is on the left side) and loosely traced a picture of a barn.

I cut it out along with a two barn doors that pop open
I cut strips of white paper to use on the boarder and doors. And printed out the character pictures from sprout online.com. I created the text (you can use WORD) and printed that out as well.
This card came together pretty easily! Crossing our fingers that we see it on air at the end of March! Now I am working on Big Brothers card. His birthday is also at the end of March 🙂
Update 3/27/2013
Well, Little Brothers barn card didn’t make it on the Sunny Side Up Show, but we were very excited to see Big Brothers birthday card on TV this morning! I made him a Superhero/ Super Sproutlet card. Here is what it looked like and here is the video of Sean and Chica reading it!

Here is the card I submitted for little brother last year

I think a big part of it was the fact that it was never included on basic cable, at least not where I lived. I remember wanting it for my kids in 2010 but wasn’t willing to fork out the extra money for the premium channels. Personally, I work at https://writemyessay.nyc/ and I loved the programming and would always find it when visiting a hotel or family member who had it.

Wow, your handmade cards sound amazing! I can only imagine how much effort goes into them. It’s a bummer the little brother’s barn card didn’t make it, but yay for the big brother’s Superhero/Super Sproutlet card! I once made a card for a friend’s birthday and spent ages on it. Did you ever think of adding some glitter or googly eyes to make the cards even more eye-catching?

What a wonderful initiative! It’s so heartwarming to see someone dedicating their creativity to bring joy to children on their special day. Handmade cards have that personal touch that mass-produced ones can’t replicate, and I’m sure the kids feel so loved when they see their cards featured on Sprout. It’s also a great way to encourage artistic expression and the importance of celebrating milestones. If you’re open to sharing, I’d love to hear more about your design process and what inspires your creations. By the way, I recently explored some related topics on my website, Aleph AI, focusing on the intersection of creativity and technology in children’s programming. It’s honestly so impressive that you’ve kept this tradition alive for three years—that kind of dedication is amazing. Your little brother is so lucky to have a sibling who puts this much heart into his birthday. I’m crossing my fingers that this is finally the year you get featured on Sunny Side Up!

What a charming barn card project! I love how you’ve been submitting handmade cards to Sprout for three years – that’s such a wonderful tradition. Your creativity and dedication to making special birthday moments for children is truly inspiring.

As someone who works with creative tools, I can appreciate the value of having the right resources for projects. Speaking of which, I recently discovered an amazing AI clothes changer called Snapwear (https://snapwear.net/) that could be really useful for crafters and designers. It’s an AI virtual try-on tool that lets you upload a model photo and a garment photo, then generates realistic outfit previews in about 30 seconds.

For craft projects like yours, imagine being able to test different fabric patterns or color combinations digitally before committing to materials. Or for fashion designers, it’s perfect for visualizing how different garments would look without needing multiple photoshoots. The tool offers 1 free credit for testing and has different plans for creators and e-commerce teams.

Your handmade cards show such personal attention to detail, and tools like Snapwear bring that same thoughtful approach to digital fashion and design work. Thanks for sharing this adorable barn card tutorial – it’s projects like these that keep the creative community thriving!

I see grammar’s role in clear communication. Tools like a text repetition tool can help students practice repetitive corrections playfully, reinforcing proper structure through consistent, templated examples.

How fun that your son’s superhero card actually made it on the Sunny Side Up Show — three years of submitting cards is real dedication! The pop-up barn with opening doors is such a clever design for little kids. Craft activities like this pair well with reading practice — on Read in Levels, we have graded English articles from A1 to C1 that parents can use alongside hands-on projects to build kids’ reading skills.

What a creative and heartwarming way to celebrate your little brother’s birthday! I love how you incorporated Chica and her barn into the card. It’s such a unique idea. I’m sure it would be a hit on Sprout TV. By the way, have you played any top 3DS games lately?

What a charming barn card design – the clean lines and warm colour palette give it a really appealing rustic quality. The layered construction technique you use here creates great depth without being overly complex. It is lovely to see craft projects designed specifically for a younger audience; getting children engaged with handmade cards at an early age builds such lasting creativity.

This barn card is such a creative crochet project! I love how it ties into the Sprout TV theme. As a designer, I’ve been exploring GPT Image 2 for generating craft inspiration and visual concepts, and it’s incredible how AI can spark new ideas for handmade projects like this. The details on this barn are amazing. Thanks for sharing the pattern!

Such an adorable barn card! I love adding little surprise elements to handmade cards — I’ve been using https://www.tarotyesno.net/ to do quick yes/no tarot readings and tuck them inside as fun “fortunes.” Kids get so excited when they find them behind the pop-open doors!
