I snagged up some individually wrapped Rolo candies on sale after Christmas thinking they would be nice for a project. Originally I was thinking something for St. Patricks Day ( maybe using them as little pots of gold?) but then I came across these cute Hershey Kiss Valentine Rings over at Mom On Timeout and thought that Rolo candies would work just as well!!
All you need are individually wrapped Rolo candies and Pipe Cleaners. It looks like you can still get the Holiday Rolo’s (multi-colored) on Amazon! Otherwise you can probably find the all gold wrapped candy in your grocery store. I chose to use sparkly pipe cleaners but you can use whatever color you want.
First, criss-cross two pipe cleaners so they form and “x”
Put the “x” over the bottom (larger side) of the Rolo
Twist the stems underneath the other side of the Rolo (this will now be the small side)
Bend pipe cleaner stems into a loop
Twist the remaining stems around the middle part of the ring so there are no pokey edges sticking out
Now your ring is finished!
Download and print this printable that I created so you can put a tag on each ring. There is a sweet Valentine’s message on the front of the tag and a “From” area on the back for your child to write their name. You will print out the strip and then fold in half around the ring. Glue or tape to secure in place.
Not only are these a great Valentine for the classroom or for friends, but they would also be perfect for a New Year’s Eve party with a tag that says “Let’s ring in the New Year!” or how about a Christmas treat and you could make “5 Golden Rings” from the 12 Days of Christmas song! Just a couple ideas to keep in mind for next year 🙂
