September 16, 2014

Here are 32 fantastic Gift ideas that are perfect for the crocheter in your life! These crochet related ideas are great for Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays, Mother’s Day or any other gift-giving occasion. If you are a crocheter go ahead and pass this along to your loved ones 🙂

1. Yarn! A yarn lover and crocheter can NEVER have a enough yarn no matter how big their stash is!

2. Gift Card to a local yarn shop or craft store. You can’t go wrong with a gift card. Let your yarn lover choose their own yarn and crafty accessories.

3. The Knit Kit. I personally purchased one of these and I think it so clever and handy! All the tools you need for crocheting on the go! And it is TSA compliant! You can purchase one HERE: The Knit Kit – 9 Essential Knitting Tools in a Travel Pack
.

4. Yarn Drum. This lightweight tote holds up to eight standard sized skeins of yarn. Yarn in use can easily be removed from tote through lid. Textured PVC base keeps contents dry on wet surfaces. Tote can be carried three ways: easy grip handle or shoulder strap to carry horizontally or vertically. Accessory pouch stores small supplies and the mesh pocket is perfect for patterns and books. You can purchase one HERE: ArtBin Yarn Drum 12-inches round by 12-3/4-inches high, Pink

5. Canvas Tote Bag. Bonus points if you get one with a fun yarny quote or saying! Search Amazon, Etsy, CafePress, and Zazzle for lots of different options! These are a few of my favorites:
I Speak Fluent Crochet Tote

I Crochet So I don’t Kill People Tote
Granny Square Tote

6. Crochet hooks! Hands down my favorite hooks right now are these gorgeous hand-crafted Wooden Hooks from Furls Crochet. Their Candy Shop Hooks are drool-worthy as well! You can check out their entire online store HERE.

Clay Hooks are also popular among crocheters. You can buy cute and custom clay hooks from a variety of different online shops. The Lemonade Shop is one of my favorites!

7. Yarn Bowls. Yarn Bowls keeps your skein from bouncing, rolling, tangling, and gathering the dust from household surfaces. This one accessory every crocheter should have! I personally have this beautiful Wooden Yarn Bowl from Furls Fiberarts and couldn’t be happier! You can purchase one HERE.

8. Yarn Ball Winder. This is another accessory every crocheter should invest in at some point. So why not give them the gift of perfectly wound balls of yarn?! I own the Stanwood Needlecraft Large Metal Yarn/Fiber/Wool/String Ball Winder, 10-Ounce and love it! Very easy to use!

9. Cutter Necklace. For anyone who totes their projects around, you might NEED this necklace! The Clover company has created this fun and functional necklace that has a blade in the open areas of the edges that are around the center of the disc. It can be hung by a ribbon or chain around your neck or from a pin or used as is. You can purchase it HERE: Clover Yarn Cutter Pendant, Antique Silver
.

10. Crochet Journal or Notebook. A crocheter always has a long list of ideas a project to-do list. And if you are a pattern designer, you will need a place to jot down all of your chicken scratch! I recently purchased this “Eat. Sleep. Crochet Notebook” although I think it should say “Crochet. Eat. Sleep.” in that order 🙂 You can purchase it HERE: CafePress Eat Sleep Crochet Journal – Standard Lined
.

11. T-shirts. Similar to the canvas tote bags, you can purchase T-shirts with fun crochet quotes and sayings. This is a great conversation starter and any avid crocheter would proudly wear ONE OF THESE! And how about this adorable WIP (Work In Progress) shirt for the pregnant crocheter?! You can find it HERE.

12. Crochet Emergency Kit. In case of crochet emergency, break glass! This would be a fun way to gift yarn to the crocheter in your life. This emergency kit can be displayed in a craft room and can be opened from the back to access yarn (when needed!). See the tutorial on how to make it HERE.

13. Stitch Markers. If you are crafty, you can make your own stitch markers out of polymer clay and gift them! Or you can purchase them from a variety of online shops like The Lemonade Shop or Day by Day Crochet. Here is the tutorial on how to make my OWL STITCH MARKERS and my YARN BALL STITCH MARKERS.

14. Yarn Puzzle. You may have seen this puzzle on my Facebook page. I started it a couple weeks ago and unfortunately haven’t made much progress on it. But I think it would be a great cozy winter project. When you are finished you can glue it to a board and frame it! You can purchase this puzzle HERE.

15. Yarn Valentine. This gift would be best for Valentine’s Day but there is no reason why it couldn’t be given any time of year! Tiny skeins of bon-bon yarn fit perfectly in an empty heart shaped chocolate box! Free printable is available for the top! You can find the tutorial and printable PDF HERE.

16. Yarn Cake. This yarn cake is so easy to throw together! Another cute and creative way to gift yarn. The perfect birthday present for your crocheter! You can find the tutorial HERE.

17. Crochet Jewelry. Can’t go wrong with the gift of jewelry, especially if it is yarn related 🙂 Etsy offers lots of handmade jewelry for yarn lovers like these adorable Yarn Ball Earings! Or how about these gorgeous Crochet Pendant from Furls Fiberarts?!

18. Crochet Words Mug. Sunday mornings wouldn’t be complete with out coffee and crochet! Sipping from a crochet words mug makes it that much better! You can read all about the mug and where to purchase it HERE.

19. Pattern Books or Online Classes. Sure you can find a lot of free patterns right here at Repeat Crafter Me, but a pattern book or an online crochet class would be a wonderful gift! You can purchase many different crochet books right from Amazon (Like this Amamani Puzzle Balls Book) or hop on over to Craftsy.com and check out all of their video crochet classes! Each are over an hour long and you have access to the instructor where you can ask questions and get one-on-one help.

20. Crochet Quote Artwork. I love this “Keep Calm and Crochet On” print! A great piece to hang in the home of a crocheter or in their craft area.

21. Crochet Hook Storage. Losing your favorite crochet hook is an on-going frustration for crocheters. Keep everything neat and tidy and in one spot with this Pocket Hook Organizer! You can purchase it HERE: Pocket Hook Organizer.

22. Buttons. One of the best embellishments for crocheted items are buttons!! And whoooo wouldn’t love these adorable Owl Buttons?! You can purchase them HERE: Owl Buttons.

23. Crochet Decor. Decorate your home with fun novelty items like this Lighting String 20 Yarn Ball Lights Set or this
CROCHET aluminum street sign! All would be fun to display during your next crochet party (people have those, right?)

24. Pom-Pom Makers. The dream of every crocheter is to make perfect pom-poms. This Clover Large Pom Pom Maker
will help you get symmetrical, poofy poms every time!

25. Garment Labels. Help your crocheter personalize their handmade items with these Boye Crochet Garment Labels!

26. Crafters Comfort Gloves.
I haven’t personally tried these but I like the idea! The Dritz Crafters Comfort Glove provides relief for arthritis, hand pain and swelling and cold hands.

27. Yarn Storage System. A handy husband could easily DIY one of these yarn storage systems or just order a wooden wine rack to make an amazing yarn storage system. Read more about it HERE.

28. Trip to a Yarn Studio. I would love to someday visit the Lion Brand Yarn Studio in New York. Look at their beautiful set-up! They offer classes and workshops and deals and discounts! This would be a real treat for any yarn lover and an easy trip for locals!

29. Crochet Cruise. The Crochet Crowd proudly presents Hook’n the High Seas, a fabulous vacation with crochet mixed into the entertainment on board a cruise ship. Hosted by Mikey & Diva Dan from The Crochet Crowd!

30. Subscription to a Crochet Magazine. There are so many wonderful crochet magazines that are available for monthly subscriptions or even online download. They come filled with free patterns, crochet tips, and lots of inspiration. Check out the top 10 Crochet Magazines HERE.

31. Crochet Mystery Book. Now doesn’t this sound intriguing! It’s a whole series of crochet mystery books by Becky Hechtman. If Hooks Could Kill (A Crochet Mystery) and Silence of the Lamb’s Wool (A Yarn Retreat Mystery) caught my eye with their clever titles 🙂

32. Business Cards. Every crochet shop owner and designer needs their own business cards! Even if you are just selling your crochet as a side business or at craft fairs, business cards will give you a professional look and keep customers coming back for more orders! You can customize your own cards at Zazzle.com or CafePress.com.

Don’t forget to make the package pretty with yarn! I love these rainbow yarn wrappings.

What else could you gift to a crocheter? Leave your ideas in the comments!

Great gifts that a crocheter would enjoy but be realistic. Who can afford to send someone on a cruise? Even the jewelry and yarn bowl are more expensive than I can afford.

It’s not negative to point out the reality of cost.

Though it IS negative to try and shame someone over it.
