Isn’t this the cutest little critter you ever did see?! I love hedgehogs almost as much as I love owls and I know this appliqué will be a hit no matter how you use it!
Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in chocolate and beige and a little bit of black for the eyes and nose
– Size G Crochet Hook (the bigger the hook the bigger the appliqué and vice versa)
– Tapestry needle
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
TC = Triple Crochet
TC = Triple Crochet
Hedgehog Applique Pattern:
Magic ring, chain 2 and make 8 DC in ring, pull tight but don’t join. You should have a half circle, chain 2, turn
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch (16 DC), chain 1, continue to SC across bottom.
Round 3: Make picots in the next ten stitches (SC + chain 3+ slip stitch in the first chain), fasten off leaving long tail. Attach beige yarn to next stitch, chain 5, SC in first chain, Hdc in next, DC in next, TC in next, join to the last stitch in round 2.
Nose: chain 3, join to first ch. sew onto tip of head.
Make a French Knot for the eye.

Thanx for sharing the pattern, I am making pins for my friends and collecting small crochet patterns for that 🙂

How many single crochets do you make on the bottom?
I love your patterns. You are so talented and thanks for sharing your patterns.
Someone already asked but I didn’t see the answer: how many SCs go across the belly? It looked like 8, but i think I didn’t go quite close enough to the corner, as my 10 picots didn’t go far enough, and my snout is 3 stitches from the end. I think I can salvage it by frogging off the snout and making a couple more picots. But I wish I had known earlier so I didn’t cut off my brown yarn.
How big is the completed project? Thanks!
Hi, I made this for my Grandson but for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s green. Lol, thank you for posting this.
