Crochet C2C Baby Blanket with Lion Brand Yarn

October 15, 2015

OwlC2C_halfway

I have some exciting news! I’ve collaborated with Lion Brand Yarn on a new C2C (corner-to-corner) crochet project: An owl baby blanket!! So cute, right?! You’ve seen me give a couple sneak peeks of this on Facebook and Instagram but now that I am about halfway through, I’m able to give you a better look at the design. I created the graph in Photoshop and am working hard on writing out very clear instructions. Even beginners will be able to make this blanket! The tutorial will include the printable owl graph, detailed photo tutorials, a written pattern for the color changes, AND a written pattern for the entire graph (I’ve never seen this done before but we are breaking the mold!). The final post and pattern will be available in early November on the Lion Brand Yarn Blog. I will be sure to let you know when it is finished and give you a link to the final post and pattern when it’s ready!

If you want to get prepared and purchase your yarn right now, I am using Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn in these colors: Aqua, Sapphire, Silver Blue, Linen, Terracotta, White, and Black. I won’t have final numbers on skeins until the end. But go ahead and stock up now! Great for a gender neutral baby gift or customize it for a boy or girl. The Vanna’s Choice Yarn line has so many wonderful color options!

If you haven’t tried pixel crochet, this is going to be a great project to start with. I’ve purposely created simple lines that work well with the corner-to-corner (C2C) technique. Tips like how to change colors and carry your yarn up without cutting ends will all be included in the tutorial. A big thank you to Lion Brand Yarn for commissioning this project and providing me the tools to work up this adorable little owl!

Oh, he’s so gorgeous. I just love your designs and am a big fan. I’ve just today finished my first graphghan project, a smaller version of your Christmas blanket and am absolutely hooked! I made a banner with the baby’s name which I made out on graph paper. I’d really like to know how to make my own basic design c2c graphghan for a cushion and I’m sure there’s an easier way than doing it by the old fashioned colouring in squares but on computer and if you are able to point me in a direction for this I’d be most grateful.
Thanks for all your hard work and fabulous inspiration ….Diane X

How do I get a message to Sarah? I am trying to get the larger size Minnie Mouse hat pattern and the link that says to click it for the pattern gave my computer a virus. Even on the Repeat Crafter Page, there is advertisements all over the place that pop up when you hit the highlighted link. Please, if you can send me the pattern or a direct link I would certainly appreciate it very much.

Too cute. I tried making a C2C blanket but had trouble with colour changing and tails of yarn. Can you show us how to keep the colors yarn and not having to cut them like in your pictures?

First off I love this pattern .. Thankyou so much for sharing it.. I have a question though.. On your decrease row do you count that first decrease as a complete pattern block..I’m getting errors when it comes to matching up the blocks in the eyes..It’s like I’m one block off and the same with the beak
