Crochet Snoopy Happy Dance Hat

October 6, 2015

SnoopyHat5

Snoopy’s happy dance (you know, the one where he moves his feet and points his nose in the air!) makes a super cute and easy crochet hat! As soon as I got the idea (thanks Mom for brainstorming with me!) I grabbed my yarn and hook and got to work. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out but according to my Facebook “likes” it sounds like you guys are loving the final piece! I don’t have a photo tutorial but the full written pattern is below! Keep in mind that you can use any basic hat pattern for the white hat.

Materials:
– Worsted Weight Yarn in Black and White (one skein each). I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry needle
– Poly-fil stuffing for the nose

Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
SC Decrease = Single Crochet Decrease

NOTE: I used a basic HDC beanie pattern and added a couple rows of SC along the bottom. Feel free to add this in to any size hat.

    OMG Sarah, this is your sweetest idea yet! I just love him and the essence of happiness he excuses in his happy dance; truly an excited pup, like after seeing his master when he gets home from work! LOL Bravo!

    Hi,i am getting ready to finish this snoopy nose. So once i close it up with the stuffing in there, how do you attach, as in, i don’t want
    the black yarn to show,, does it end up being floppy at all?

    Hi.
    I love your pattern. Thank you for sharing. I am making one for my granddaughter but having trouble with the ears. I’m working on rows 4 – 10 ( 18 sc each). It is turning into a ball instead of laying flat. Is this how it is supposed to be or am I doing something wrong ? I need to have this ready for next week so a quick reply would be appreciated.
    Thanks again for sharing. 🙂

    I didn’t see a gauge for this and I just completed the hat part for the toddler/preschooler and it is more of a child size. I don’t crochet loose so I was wondering if you think your stitches may be on the snug side. I’ll unravel it and maybe take out an increasing row. My son will be wearing it when they go see the Peanuts movie in the theater. =)

    I agree with all that are having trouble with the ears, it IS just one big circle. I’ve taken mine apart 3 times now. I wish we could respectfully get an answer to this question. We amy have to look up another dog hat pattern with similar ears??? Please help!

      With the ears it is a circle but you flatten the circle in half then work up. It creates the long ears. 🙂
