Bright and Bulky Bernat Blanket Squares

May 2, 2016

ChunkySquare5

I am going nuts over Yarnspirations Bernat Blanket Yarn! It’s super bulky and super soft texture make it great for some quick and cute crochet projects (like my OWL PILLOW!) And now I am swooning over the Bernat Blanket Brights line! Beautiful bold colors (with fun names like Race Car Red and Pow Purple) that have so much project potential! I’ve started making Bright and Bulky Blanket Squares that will be joined for a colorful granny square blanket. The best part about these squares is that they are so fast to make! With only two rounds to crochet, you have a pretty decent sized square (5×5 inches). A granny square blanket never worked up so quickly! Stay tuned for the finished blanket to be posted later this week 🙂

I can’t decide what color to stitch the squares together with. I’d love to see what you used!

Thank you for posting this! I will be making a temperature blanket for 2018 (see here: http://incyanity.net/temp-blanket-square-one/) and these squares will be perfect for it!

I wanted to stop by and thank you again for posting this square pattern. My temperature blanket is well on its way now (http://incyanity.net/tag/temperature-blanket/ for all related posts!) and I’m really enjoying it because of how easy the squares are. It’s my first blanket and I’m glad I chose to do it with blanket yarn!

How did you join these please? I haven’t tried joining mine yet but think joining them with the same yarn would make the joins really bulky? Thank you.

Sorry, I meant to add in my comment that mine are all different colours and have to be that way for the pattern I’m making.
