Crochet a quick and easy Coffee Mug Gift Card Holder for a fun presentation and a keepsake that they can continue to use for credit cards, coins, dollar bills, and more! These make wonderful teacher gifts, holiday gifts, and are perfect for birthdays!
Materials:
– Bernat Super Value yarn in Lush green and Taupe brown. Of course you can make your mug ANY color! View all color choices HERE at Yarnspirations.com!
– Size H crochet hook. I would suggest a size G hook for a slightly smaller (more fitted) gift card holder.
– Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
You will make two pieces. One with the “coffee” at the top and the other a plain piece.
Coffee Mug Gift Card Holder Pattern:
With green yarn…
Chain 13, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 2-12: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (12 SC) – chain 2 after row 12
Row 13: DC in first stitch, HDC, SC in next 8, HDC, DC,
Drop green color but don’t fasten off. Change to brown yarn, chain 1, turn
Row 14: SC in first 2, HDC, DC in next 6, HDC, SC in last 2, fasten off brown yarn
Pick up main color yarn again and slip stitch across top (of brown) in back loops only, fasten off and weave in ends.
Now make a solid plain piece for the backside.
With green yarn…
Chain 13, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 2-15: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends after row 15.
Place the two pieces together and line up the edges. Slip stitch 3 of the edges together (not the top) and when you are done, fasten off and weave in ends.
Now let’s add a handle!
Attach green yarn 4 Rows up from the bottom and chain 10. Join with slip stitch about 4 rows down from the top (use picture as your guide). Turn and make 12 SC over the chain 10 space, join with a slip stitch to base of handle. Turn and slip stitch along the SC stitches, join with a slip stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Insert gift card and give to your friends and family!
