Patriotic Popsicle Crochet Cuddle Buddy

June 22, 2017

The 4th of July holiday can be a fun celebration filled with fireworks and BBQ’s but for the little ones, it can be a bit overwhelming and scary. Especially when it gets dark and the loud firecrackers begin to go off. That’s where this Patriotic Popsicle Crochet Cuddle Buddy comes to the rescue!  A festive friend to comfort those nerves. Modeled after the rocket pops (also called firecracker popsicles and bomb pops), this cutie is ready to cuddle! Made with Bernat Super Value yarn in Berry Red, White, and my new favorite color: Hot Blue. Honestly you need to stock up on this shade because you can also make THIS PROJECT and THIS PROJECT with it 🙂

Materials:
– Bernat Super Value Yarn in Berry Red, White, Hot Blue, Mushroom, and small strand of Black. Shop all colors at Yarnspirations.com.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– 12mm Safety Eyes (you can purchase online HERE or at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts)
– Tapestry needle
– Polyfil fiber stuffing

Popsicle Pattern: MAKE TWO
Starting with Blue…
Chain 29, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (28 SC)
Row 2-14: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (28 SC)
Change to White
Row 15-28: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (28 SC)
Change to Red
Row 29-38: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (28 SC)
Row 39: SC decrease, SC in next 24, SC decrease, chain 1, turn (26 SC)
Row 40: SC decrease, SC in next 22, SC decrease, chain 1, turn (24 SC)
Row 41: SC decrease, SC in next 20, SC decrease, chain 1, turn (22 SC)
Row 42: SC decrease, SC in next 2, HDC in next 4, DC in next 6, HDC in next 4, SC in next 2, SC decrease
Fasten off and weave in ends

Arms and Legs:
Arms should be done in blue (make 2)
Legs should be done in light brown (make 2)
Chain 5, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, now working on other side of chain SC in each chain, do not join, continue to SC in rounds.
Make 8 rounds for the arms and 14 for the legs.

Add safety eyes and stitch on a little smile to the white area of one of the popsicle body pieces.

Lay the two popsicle pieces together and SC around the edges, making sure to switch color along the sides to match. Be sure to stuff with poly-fil before completely closing.

Attach arms and legs. Feel free to lightly stuff them as well. I ran out of poly-fil so my cuddle buddy is a little under-stuffed 🙁

Get cuddly and have a safe and happy 4th of July!

It’s cute. It really reminds me of the Popsicle Kawaii Cuddler originally designed by 3amgracedesigns earlier this month.

It really is very well done and of great quality. The explanation is very good. You are to be congratulated. Those pieces are beautiful. I also have a crochet sales website, who can visit, I will be very happy. The site is this: Capa de almofada
