Crochet Tote with Stencil Revolution

August 13, 2018

If you are like me, you have several yarn totes… one in the car, one for travel, and a few strategically placed around the house so a work-in-progress is always at arms reach! I’m super excited to be adding this extra-large tote to my collection 🙂

Stencil Revolution approached me with their awesome idea for a crochet stencil. They sent me this design and I was sold! I knew it would be perfect on the front of a canvas tote! But the best part is that Stencil Revolution makes reusable stencils with a laser cutter. So I can re-use this cute design/quote for not only another tote bag (like one for each of my crocheting buddies) but also on a canvas frame, floor mat, wood sign, tablecloths, and much more!!

Stencil Revolution is a family owned company (yay for supporting small businesses!) based out of Spring Hill, Florida. They cut the stencils out of durable 10 mil mylar and they are completely washable and reusable. They have a ton of in-stock inventory that is ready to ship including farmhouse stencils, state stencils and much more. Shop all in-stock items HERE.

You can find the “Crocheting Keeps Me From Unraveling” Stencil HERE! I have the 18×12 size but you can purchase the stencil in a variety of sizes starting at the bargain price of only $5.39!

Here is how I transferred the stencil design onto a canvas tote in a matter of minutes:

Materials:
– Crocheting Keeps Me From Unraveling 18×12 Stencil. Purchase HERE
– Large Canvas Tote. Purchase HERE on Amazon (aff)
– Acrylic Multi-Surface Paint. One small bottle (a little goes a long way!!) I purchased from Target but you can find at any craft store.
– Foam Dauber
– Painters Tape

Place Stencil on top of canvas tote

Secure with painters tape. In hindsight I should have tapes all 4 edges intstead of two.

Put a small amount of paint on paint dauber and start dabbing over your stencil.

The acrylic paint actually dries fairly quickly! I let it sit for about an hour.

I’m thrilled with how this turned out without even being super careful. It might have been able to perfect the yarn balls with just a little bit of extra time with my prep.

Can’t wait to carry this around and show it off!

If you love this stencil as much as I do, let the good people at Stencil Revolution know!!
You can find them on Facebook HERE or on Instagram HERE.
And shop all their stencil designs HERE at www.StencilRevolution.com!

Love this – is the paint permanent? Can you wash the bag without it running?

I look exactly like you. I love these yarn shoppers. I even take such a bag with me when I fly somewhere and also put it in the car. I always rent a car and I want everything to be familiar – at hand, that’s why I put a shopper in the car. Recently, I flew to San Francisco and rented a car at 14CARS.com and as soon as I picked it up from the rental car, I put it in the salon
