Tis the season for snowmen! Let’s be honest, any time is a good time for snowman themed projects. They are so cute and irresistible! I’ve come up with some snowman heads (based on my Snowman Sack pattern) and they are so versatile that I think you could use them for many different projects. I have a specific project in mind and will show you that soon…But just to throw out some ideas, you could use these as bunting/garland, interior decor, little plush toys – especially if you crochet a body and make them a bigger snowman, hanging charms/oversized keychains, ornaments, lovey blanket topper, game of toss or snowball fight, and much more! Use any color for the hats and make lots of these for the holidays!
Finished size is approximately 4×4 inches. So the pictures might be a little deceiving as they make them look a bit smaller than they actually are. No worries, go down a hook size or two and try using a thinner weight yarn (like Caron Simply Soft instead of Bernat Super Value) if you want them to be a better size for an ornament or keychain!
I don’t usually do this, but I went ahead and made a video tutorial! I figured that there were so many little details (like the smile and the hat tail) that I wanted to show you, a video would be best. So sorry for a few interruptions from my kids. I did try to crochet almost all the way through this project from start to finish! Hope this helps! Written pattern is included below as well!

love these! can you tell us where you got your chorchet hook?
I LOVE this snowman, I GOING to make a lot of them for Christmas, I looking for more pattern like this. Thank you.
These are awesome. I’m always looking for small projects to make while flying and these are perfect. Glad I watched the video though so I know the join and ch1 don’t count as a stitch. Also for the nose. I’m going to time myself to see how long it takes to make, but I see a really cute wreath in my future.
Where can you find your blog?To see where to find out what you did with the snowman heads
Because mine are Christmas ornaments, I folded an orange pipe cleaner and inserted on either side of a stitch and secured inside the head… I love the dimension it gives.
Can’t wait to make these for my door, been waiting for something like this, thank you and will show a pic when I get done.
Love this pattern. I plan on making a few of these. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic…thanks for sharing…..already made a bunch!✂️☃️
Thanks a lot !
I’ve make it smaller, with 2,5mm hook (C for you ?), for a Christmas tree deco, and it’s very nice !
I have recently about 2 months ago starting crocheting and the credit all goes to your snowman head. It was so cute I just had to make 1 or 10. I started using your video tutorial and went step by step pausing it as I went. And it turned out awesome. Since then I have made several gingerbread heads, the gingerbread towel topper and the double gingerbread man. I want to give you crdit for all of these but the only place I post is on eagerly but these patterns aren’t listed. I did put a link to your site in the notes of my project though. Before seeing your snowman I could do the basic chain, single and double but have never really made anything worthwhile as I have always knit. Thanks so much for what you do. Your work has allowed me to give lots of cute gifts this Christmas.
I love your snowmen wreath! How do you attach them to the wreath itself?
