Scooby-Doo Gang Family Costume

October 11, 2018

My 7 year old orchestrated this entire family costume! Halloween is his favorite holiday and after we saw a large Scooby Head at Walmart, he decided that each of us would dress as a Scooby-Doo character – him being Scooby-Doo of course! When we adopted our little puppy Max, I knew that he would easily fit into our Halloween Costume Theme as Scrappy-Doo! I crocheted him a little Scrappy-Doo hat (although it could easily be Scooby-Doo as well) but of course he’s a rambunctious puppy and wiggled right out of the hat every time we tried to put it on. But that’s ok! He’s still a cutie! This photo actually cracks me up because my kids fit their characters so well! And my husband and I make a pretty good Fred and Daphne, don’t you think?! Below I have listed where I got all the costumes and how I made the Crochet Scrappy/Scooby Dog Hat!

With turquoise, chain 35 or however long or short you want the piece to go around your dogs neck (it should be loose!). Slip stitch in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down. Stitch ends together.

Poor puppy Max really didn’t want to wear the hat!

Much Better! He still fits the part as little Scrappy-Doo!

I’m making this today for my Chihuahua but there is an error.
    Head for Hat:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 4 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
Round 3: 2 sC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (16 SC)

Round 3 only comes to 12, not 16. This would affect the next round too . Can you check it please.

Sorry, me again. I adjusted the pattern, and continued on with 16, assuming that’s what you meant. But then Round 5 doesn’t work. Instead of 24 we get 22 with an uneven repeat. I’m going to finish by adjusting, but I think the pattern needs tinkering. 🙂
