Crochet Santa Baby Booties

December 3, 2018

If you are already feeling overwhelmed with the holidays and have too many big projects on your hook, a quick crochet project might be just what you need! These cute little Santa Baby Booties work up in less than an hour! I repurposed and simplified my UGG boots pattern and switched up the color of yarn for these fuzzy comfy baby boots!

Materials:
– Bernat Super Value yarn in Black and Berry Red.
– Bernat Pipsqueak yarn in white
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry needle

Santa Booties Pattern (make 2):
Note: Both right and left foot are worked exactly the same.
Starting with black yarn…
Chain 10, SC in 2nd chain from hook, SC in next 7, make 5 SC in the last chain
Now working on opposite side, SC 9, join, ch 1
Round 2: SC in first 2, HDC in next 6, 2 HDC in next 2, HDC in next 2, 2 HDC in next 2, HDC in next 6, SC in last two, join, ch 1.
Round 3: SC in first 9, 2 SC in next 2, 2 HDC in next 4, 2 SC in next 2, SC in last 9, join, chain 1
Round 4:  In back loops only, make 2 SC in first, SC in each stitch around, make 2 SC in last, join, ch 1. (36 SC)
Switch to red yarn..
Round 5-6: Now working in both loops, SC around, join, ch 1. (36 SC)
Round 7: SC in first 12, [SC decrease, SC in next ] 4 times, SC in last 12, join, ch 1. (32 sc)
Round 8: SC in first 10, [SC decrease, SC in next] 4 times, SC in last 10, join, ch 1. (28 sc)
Round 9: SC in first 8, [SC decrease, SC in next] 4 times, SC in last 8, join, chain 1 (24 sC)
Round 10-15: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Switch to white pipsqueak yarn…
Round 16: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off and weave in ends.

These booties are sized for around 3-6 months old but you can easily make them bigger or smaller (anywhere from 0-12 months) by adjusting your hook size and weight of yarn. I am using Bernat Super Value (which is a thicker worsted weight yarn – so thinner yarn could be used! – like Caron Simply Soft) and a size F hook.
