Measuring 26 inches tall and 18 inches wide, this lush and plush crochet bear is ready for lots of giant hugs and snuggles. I decided to leave off the heart on the belly but you could definitely add one if you’d like!

Heart Pattern:
Chain 21, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (20 SC)
Row 2: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 18, 2 SC in last stitch, chain 1, turn (22 SC)
Row 3- 10: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (22 SC)
Row 11: SC decrease over first two stitches, SC in remaining stitches, chain 1, turn
Row 12: SC in first 12 stitches (leave remaining stitches unworked), chain 1, turn
Row 13-20: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 21: SC decrease over first two stitches, SC in next 8, SC decrease over last two,
Continue to SC around entire heart. When you get to bottom stitch (the one with the your slip knot) SC + Chain 1 + SC all in one stitch. Then when you get to the top “v” indent, slip stitch (instead of SC). Join, fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto tummy.

Here is a video on how to sew the limbs onto the body!

Love this bear and had already started the original size when I saw your enlarged version. Does this take a full 2 skeins for the MC or can I get away with a large and maybe 1 small. I know, I know – just get started and you’ll soon find out! 🙂 I’m new to your site and so far, so good. I’ll be signing up for your FB page too. I especially like the video how-to’s for assembly of this bear. Thanks again.

I love this bear and have left over yarn from baby blanket for my 1st grandson!! Will be making it.
I am confused on the arms. It say to: not join but work in the round, then next round says to join and Ch1. What is the correct way?
All join, ch1 make an unsightly seam. could we just continue in the round?
