Crochet Avocado

May 16, 2019

Seems like I am being inspired this week by all the cute things! A few days ago I post THIS adorable Flamingo Applique that was inspired by my flamingo crochet hook. And today I whipped up a Crochet Avocado that was inspired by the tablecloth my friend Jen had out this morning!

You can buy this Avocado Tablecloth HERE on Amazon! (affiliate link)

The best part is that this avocado is pretty much true to size! It’s about 6×4 inches and fits in your hand just as a real ripe avocado would. I think I am going to use this one as an extra large keychain but you can do with it as you wish! I think it would make a fun pregnancy announcement because the baby is the size of an avocado when a woman is 16 weeks pregnant. It’s also just a fun amigurumi to have around if you are an avocado fan!

Materials:
– Bernat Super Value Yarn in Lush Green, Soft Fern, and Taupe.
Shop these perfect avocado colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com!
– Strand of Black yarn or embroidery thread.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– A pair of 9mm safety eyes (or similar size)
– Tapestry Needle
– Poly-fil Fiber Stuffing

Avocado Body:
Make one in Lush Green and on in Fern Green
Magic Ring, chain 2, make 12 DC inside magic ring, join to first DC, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (24 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next stitch, repeat around, join, chain 1 (36 DC)
Row 4: SC in first, HDC in next 6, SC in last chain 1, turn (leave remaining stitches in round unworked)
Row 5: SC decrease, HDC in next 4, SC decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 6: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (6 SC)
Row 7: SC decrease, SC in next 2, SC decrease, chain 1, turn
Row 8: Make 2 SC decreases, continue to SC around edge of entire piece, join to first SC, fasten off the light green body piece and weave in ends.
Do not fasten off the darker green piece. Set aside for a moment.

Avocado Seed:
with brown yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 2
Round 3: HDC in first three stitches, SC in all remaining stitches making a SC + HDC in last, join to first HDC, fasten off leaving long tail.

On lighter green avocado body piece:
Attach safety eyes and stitch on a little smile with your black yarn.
Then stitch on your seed to the middle tummy area. Stuff lightly with poly-fil before completely sewing shut.

Place both body pieces together. SC the edges together with the green yarn. Stuff with poly-fil before completely stitching it shut. You don’t want to stuff it too full. Just enough to give it a nice form but not so much that the poly-fil is coming out between the stitches.

I’m crazy about this crochet avocado!
The cutest and squishiest superfood you’ll ever see!

That bit about the first sonogram photo and the hospital hat tucked into ornaments really got me, especially set against a golden glow from her faux tree. The dried baby’s breath mishap that turned moldy was a small, human detail I appreciated. While scrolling on the train, I wondered if an AI Lipsync Video Generator could animate those family snapshots in the tree, since the site mentions being an AI Lipsync Video Generator for quick keepsake videos. The mix of pinecones and velvet feels pretty much like a calm, lived-in California holiday.

In case anyone else gets stuck, I think it means “SC in last, chain 1” so one single crochet to finish the row before chaining 1 and turning it.

What a delightfully charming crochet avocado—so cute and full of personality! It’s amazing how crafting can turn everyday inspirations (like a tablecloth or even a ripe avocado!) into joyful, handmade treasures. Speaking of health and real-life avocados—I recently discovered how closely heart rate monitoring ties into wellness awareness, just like tracking pregnancy milestones (e.g., “baby is the size of an avocado at 16 weeks!”). If you’re curious about non-invasive, tap-based heart rate detection—great for fitness, stress checks, or just mindful moments—you might enjoy exploring [HeartRateTap.com](https://www.heartratetap.com/). Simple, science-backed, and surprisingly accurate!

I never would’ve thought about using the crochet avocado as a pregnancy announcement prop for 16 weeks! That’s such a cute and memorable idea. It would definitely be a fun way to share the news.

This crochet avocado is super cute! I love how you got inspired by your friend’s tablecloth. It makes me want to try crocheting something fun too. Speaking of fun, have you tried songless: guess the song? It’s a fun game to play with friends!

I actually tried making a crochet avocado last year and my pit kept coming out lopsided! Your tip about stuffing it lightly before closing made all the difference—wish I’d seen this sooner. So cute!

Your crochet avocado is absolutely adorable! It’s amazing how everyday inspiration, like a friend’s tablecloth, can spark such a cute project. I love seeing how other crafters find their creative ideas. Speaking of repetition and inspiration, when I’m organizing patterns or need to generate multiple placeholder lines for a project note, I use a tool at https://textrepeaterpro.com/ to quickly repeat text. It saves so much time compared to manual copying, letting me focus more on the fun part—the actual crocheting! Can’t wait to see what you’re inspired by next.

The way you did the seed with the little brown piece was so clever! I’ve tried a few avocado patterns before, but that detail makes this one look so much more realistic. Definitely saving this for my next project.

What a delightful project! It’s amazing how inspiration can strike from everyday objects. Speaking of creativity, I often find that random Bible verses spark new ideas for my crafts—maybe you could consider incorporating a favorite verse in your next piece!

I tried making a crochet avocado once and my “pit” ended up looking more like a lumpy rock. Yours is so perfectly round! This gives me the motivation to untangle my yarn and give it another shot.

I love how your crochet avocado captures the charm of the tablecloth! It’s amazing how you can turn everyday items into adorable amigurumi. I’m curious, do you have any top 3DS games that inspire your craft projects?

I loved the step where you use the half‑double crochet to shape the avocado pit—how many rounds did you find gave the best firmness before switching to the seed color? I tried a similar fruit amigurumi last month and found that adding an extra increase round made the pit too bulky, so I scaled back to match your count.

The step‑by‑step breakdown of the avocado’s seed texture really shows how attention to tiny details can turn a simple shape into something lifelike—something I appreciate when mapping micro‑habitats on Cloud Island, where even a single pixel’s shade can change a creature’s spawn rate.

A crocheted avocado is just the most delightful thing – the colour work to get that realistic gradient from the dark skin to the pale green flesh and the brown pit is really impressive. This kind of food amigurumi has become so popular and for good reason; they make perfect little gifts and display pieces. The pattern looks well-explained and achievable for anyone comfortable with basic amigurumi techniques.

Love that this avocado is actually true to size at 6×4 inches! The pregnancy announcement idea is brilliant—never thought of using amigurumi that way. Definitely making one this weekend for my sister.

Btw I’ve been using HappyHorse (HappyHorse) to track my yarn stash lately, super handy for organizing all those Bernat shades like Lush Green.

This avocado is the cutest amigurumi I’ve seen in a while! I love how it’s basically true to size — the idea of using it as a pregnancy announcement at 16 weeks is so creative. I’m going to try this with some leftover Bernat Super Value I have in similar greens. One thing I’m curious about: did you use a stitch marker for the rounds or just eyeball it? I always lose track when switching between DC and SC. Also, I’ve been reading a lot of crochet patterns from Japanese crafters lately and https://www.neonlingo.com/ has been really helpful for picking up the vocabulary while browsing those sites. Thanks for the free pattern, Sarah!
