Let’s start out the new year with a quick and easy project! My kids are still on winter break and we’ve pretty much started a morning ritual of sleeping in and then enjoying a big cup of coffee (for me) and hot chocolate (for them). I thought this Crochet Mug would be a fun project for any coffee or cocoa drinker! I love using Bernat Blanket yarn for amigurumi projects because it works up quick and gives you a nice size project.
Materials:
– Bernat Blanket Yarn in Busy Blue and Taupe. Feel free to use any colors of Bernat Blanket Yarn you want! Shop colors on Yarnspirations.com
– Size K Crochet Hook
– Two small safety eyes and a pice of black yarn for smile (optional)
– Poly-fil Fiber stuffing
Finished Size: Approximately 6×4 inches (not including handle)
Mug Pattern:
With Blue Yarn (or main mug color)
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 4-10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Fasten off after round 10.
Add safety eyes and smile if desired.
With brown you and working in loop behind the the stitches of round 10 (see picture below).
Round 11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Now would be a good time to stuff with poly-oil
Round 12-13: SC Decrease in around, join, chain 1
SC Decrease until closed or use your tapestry needle to stitch closed. Weave in ends.
Handle:
Join in blue yarn to the top side of mug. Chain 10 and join to bottom of mug (at about round 4), turn, SC in each stitch, turn, slip stitch down handle and fasten off and weave in ends.
Here is my little trick to closing the top of amigurumi projects neatly! Use your tapestry needle instead of trying to SC Decrease until closed.

Super cute. I’ve never thought of using bulky yarn for an Amigurumi before. I’ll have to try it out. Good job!

I really love to create such a cute thing and i was so upset because recently i have to write my reaction paper and that’s way i was to busy to do something by myself. But now I’m free and ready for my sweet little hobby . So thank you a lot for this excellent post i totally inspired.
