I wanted to get something colorful on my hook and THIS Rainbow Pillow from Yarnspirations.com was the perfect project! It’s a super simple pattern that is made up of single crochet stitches with easy increases (you start with the purple and increase every other row until you get to the red). The pattern calls for 5 colors so I chose a turquoise and a purple instead of ending in green and blue but you could choose whatever colors you want in your rainbow!
The biggest change I made to this project was using two strands of Bernat Super Value worsted weight yarn instead of Bernat Blanket Yarn. The pattern worked perfectly with the yarn switch BUT it did turn out a bit smaller. My rainbow pillow is 16×10 inches. I also used a size K/10.5mm hook instead of the recommended L/11mm only because I couldn’t find my L hook. But I don’t think it made much of a difference. I am a loose crocheter!

To use two strands at once, you will first rolled a bit of your skein into a ball. Your ball doesn’t need to be huge. About the size below for the purple and then about double that when you get to the red (the red uses more yarn since those rows have more stitches).

You will start by crocheting the two rainbow pieces and then you will stitch them together. I went ahead and filmed while I was stitching this pillow together just so you could see how its done. I most frequently get questions about how to sew crochet pieces together so I hope this helps!
