Christmas Crochet is in full swing and I have another fun and festive Holiday projects for you! I’ve created this super cute Crochet Gingerbread Blanket! It works up quickly so you can easily get this done in a few days. You will start by crocheting in a circle which we then transform into a square just by adding a few extra stitches! The v-stitches in white yarn create that adorable rik-rak pattern. Lastly, simple crocheted circles make the eyes and cheeks and use the surface slip stitch for the big smile! Everyone is going to want to cuddle up in this cute Christmas Character!

I love seasonal crochet projects and the holidays are my favorite time of year to create cute handmade décor and gifts. Gingerbread men are a fan favorite so I knew I wanted to design something that was gingerbread themed but also something that was simplistic and doable during the busy holiday season.

Such a cute blanket! Thank you for sharing.
Sarah, could you please tell me what the name of the brown yarn is on the gingerbread blanket? Did you use Bernat yarn? Thank you.
Hi . How can print the pattern?
I love this blanket. I’ll make. It right after Christmas for my great, great great niece!
Absolutely adore this afghan and thank you for the directions. Now, could you do an easy printer pattern so I could print it out? I can’t do cut and paste on this new computer (hopefully I’ll learn some day soon). Thanks.
Hi this gingerbread Afghan is so cute. I just have one question how many yards of the brown do I need? I know it says 4 skeins but I’m going to use red heart soft and it has less yards than the Bernat super saver. So I’m thinking I will need 6 skeins.
Thank you. I injoyed make it.
Awesome as always
What color brown did you use?
Very beautiful and comfortable stuff
Help!

I really like this blanket. Would you mind sharing whose brown you used for it. Also on your
advent calendar did you use your favorite of 3hdc and chain 5 or did you use 3 double and
chain 6. I would really appreciate you letting me know.
Thank you.
Sarah, I’ve made 7 or 8 of these for the NICU and children’s hospital for two years now. They are a big hit. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Hi Diane…could you share what colors you used for the blankets you made, and what size do they end up being? Sharing with the NICU is a wonderful idea! I will have to get busy!!! Thank you for your response!
Row 7 is not very clear. Do we repeat this across the row? Please can you say if the chain 2 is counted as a stitch also
Yes you repeat across the row. The chain 2 does not count as a stitch .

My edges are curled up bad since early on in the beg rounds. My stitch count is right , I went up a hook size when the square part started, I’m on row 18 and it’s whole not as bad, it’s still curling. Also, that join seem looks horrible, I didn’t see it on yours. Im about to scrap it, I was so excited for this project. I don’t want to start over.
That’s what mine is doing. I think the ch2 should be counted as the first stitch. I’ve only done 4 rows! Maybe I’ll start another one and count the ch2 as first stitch. I don’t know if it was ok to answer here but sounds like you have the same problem? Jo
The chain two is not counted as a first stitch. When you join you are joining to the first double crochet in each row. That helps to make your join less visible.
I am so happy that you wrote this article. I have been suffering from depression for a long time and I have been having trouble finding the right therapist.
It’s very interesting. I also want to try playing it.
I’ve just started the blanket. Does the ch2 count as the first stitch ? Mine is not laying flat and the pictures look like it’s pretty flat?
No the chain two does not count as the first stitch.
There are several important questions that have not been answer. They are important to continue the project.
Can someone answer them, please/
Thank you for sharing this pattern. I just finished my gingerbread and it is so adorable! Again thank you so much!!!
Your post was a great reminder that we all need to be more mindful of our actions and the impact they have on others. I will definitely be more conscious of my own behavior in the future.
