Bunny Crochet Cups

March 2, 2021

These little Bunny Baskets are cup size and perfect for holding a few small candies (or non-candy) treats! So easy to work up and great for Easter gift giving and the Spring season. Kids, Teachers, Neighbors, and Friends will all love these!

Here is the video tutorial:

Materials:
-Size K Crochet Hook
–Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Aran (or any color you’d like!) Shop all colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
-Large Tapestry Needle
-Two black safety eyes (12mm) and a Pink Safety Nose
Shop Safety Eyes/Noses HERE on Amazon

Finished Size: Approximately 4 inches wide (3 inches wide at bottom) and 3.5 inches tall (not including ears)

Use a double strand of yarn when crocheting (two strands held together)

Bunny Cups:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: Working in back loops for this round only, SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 6-11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 12: Reverse SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off weave in ends.

Bunny Ears (make 2)
Chain 11, SC in second chain from hook, SC in next 3, HDC in next 3, DC in next 2, 5 DC in last, now working on other side of chain, DC in next 2, HDC in next 3, SC in last 4, fasten off leaving long tail to stitch onto inside of basket

Add safety eyes and safety nose to front of basket (ears should go on inside back)

Stuff with candy or non-candy treats like scrunchies, hot wheels, earrings, necklaces…really anything from dollar spot sections!

They fit in the palm of your hand! But I was able to get 3 bags of mini Cadbury chocolate eggs inside the cup.

I am literally sitting here crying. I want to make this so bad but can’t figure out that magic ring! I went frame by frame on the video but end up with a giant circle and yarn everywhere. I wish you were my neighbor so you could sit next to me and show me!!! I know I can manage the rest of the basket but just can’t get that bottom!!

Try a chain 4 then slip stitch into the first stitch to make a circle. Then do the 10 sc into that circle 🙂

I made a slightly larger version. Round 3b: 2SC in the first stitch, 1SC in the next stitch. repeat all the way around. (alternately you could increase again… Round 3c: 2SC in the first stitch, 1SC in the next two stitches. repeat all the way around.

Resume Round 4 of original pattern.

Hi, I’m interested in expanding the basket, but would you not then do a plain round of SC for Rd3c? How come you go straight to the next increase? Hope you don’t mind me asking, I’m still learning!

I think if you made the bottom bigger don’t stop at 25 and keep going I am sure you can make a big basket give that a try. But you would have to ask the maker of the pattern for to help with the ears to make bigger. good luck on the basket.

Thank you so much for this adorable bunny basket pattern. Honestly I shall start in July to crochet for Christmas. I didn’t have enough time this year to do all the handwork I wanted to make this year. I love the “magic circle” I use it all the time. It makes such a clean circle.

Sarah, I just want to make sure I’m doing this right. So at the end of each row, you join to the first stitch of that round, chain 1, then when you start the next round, do you put the first stitch in the same place where you just joined ? OR into the next stitch which would be the 2nd stitch really?Thank you so much!

Would you consider making the text font on your whole website slightly darker? I’m older, yes, but not ancient. Like some recent cookbooks I’ve wanted to buy, the font is so light that it gives me a headache trying to read it, and I have trouble following the recipes and pattern wording because of it.
    Thank you!

Please delete my comment below. For some reason, the text was much lighter in desktop view on my phone. I just needed to go back to phone view and do a refresh!

I do have another question, though. You no longer update your Ravelry designs page, I see. Are you on any other group crochet website that features designers and their patterns, or are you just on the sites you list here?
    Thanks!
