Bunny Crochet Cups

March 2, 2021

These little Bunny Baskets are cup size and perfect for holding a few small candies (or non-candy) treats! So easy to work up and great for Easter gift giving and the Spring season. Kids, Teachers, Neighbors, and Friends will all love these!

Here is the video tutorial:

Materials:
-Size K Crochet Hook
–Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Aran (or any color you’d like!) Shop all colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
-Large Tapestry Needle
-Two black safety eyes (12mm) and a Pink Safety Nose
Shop Safety Eyes/Noses HERE on Amazon

Finished Size: Approximately 4 inches wide (3 inches wide at bottom) and 3.5 inches tall (not including ears)

Use a double strand of yarn when crocheting (two strands held together)

Bunny Cups:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join to first SC
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: Working in back loops for this round only, SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 6-11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 12: Reverse SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off weave in ends.

Bunny Ears (make 2)
Chain 11, SC in second chain from hook, SC in next 3, HDC in next 3, DC in next 2, 5 DC in last, now working on other side of chain, DC in next 2, HDC in next 3, SC in last 4, fasten off leaving long tail to stitch onto inside of basket

Add safety eyes and safety nose to front of basket (ears should go on inside back)

Stuff with candy or non-candy treats like scrunchies, hot wheels, earrings, necklaces…really anything from dollar spot sections!

They fit in the palm of your hand! But I was able to get 3 bags of mini Cadbury chocolate eggs inside the cup.

I am literally sitting here crying. I want to make this so bad but can’t figure out that magic ring! I went frame by frame on the video but end up with a giant circle and yarn everywhere. I wish you were my neighbor so you could sit next to me and show me!!! I know I can manage the rest of the basket but just can’t get that bottom!!

Try a chain 4 then slip stitch into the first stitch to make a circle. Then do the 10 sc into that circle 🙂

I made a slightly larger version. Round 3b: 2SC in the first stitch, 1SC in the next stitch. repeat all the way around. (alternately you could increase again… Round 3c: 2SC in the first stitch, 1SC in the next two stitches. repeat all the way around.

Resume Round 4 of original pattern.

Hi, I’m interested in expanding the basket, but would you not then do a plain round of SC for Rd3c? How come you go straight to the next increase? Hope you don’t mind me asking, I’m still learning!

Could I use bulky weight yarn for this, instead of using 2 strands at a time?

Do you do something to the back of the eyes and nose so they aren’t pointy?
