Crochet Pumpkin Kitty

Every year when I start getting the itch to crochet a few things for the Fall season, I always seem to gravitate back to my favorite pumpkin! The Caron Harvest Crochet Pumpkins is an absolute MUST make! Super simple stitches make the grooves of the pumpkin (you basically just alternate between SC and DC) and there’s very little sewing at the end. This year I decided to take this easy pattern and a few embellishments to make a Pumpkin Kitty! When the basic pattern is this well written, it makes it fun to put your own twist on it! So instead of using Caron yarn I decided to use Red Heart Super Saver in color….yep you guessed it… PUMPKIN! And I followed the small size as written in the Yarnspirations pattern download.

To add the cat ears:
With orange yarn
chain 5, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down, chain 1, turn
Row 2: SC Decrease twice, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC in each stitch (2 SC), chain 1, turn
Row 4: SC Decrease, conintue to SC around entire ear making 2 SC in each of the bottom corners, fasten off and weave in ends.
With black yarn, join to bottom right hand corner,
2 SC in corner and then SC in back loops only around two sides of ear, make 2 SC in the top of the ear and another 2 SC in the other corner, leave bottom of ear unworked.

Use a Large Black Safety nose and fabric glue to secure some black yarn strands for the whiskers.
Place two black safety eyes about 6 stitches apart of the eyes.
