Do we need another gnome crochet pattern? WE SURE DO! Might as well keep the gnome-theme going this year with another adorable project! These Crochet Gnome Granny Squares are quick and easy to work up and you can make them in sooo many different colors. I am using the same Red Heart Super Saver colors that are in my Gnome Corner-to-Corner Crochet blocks but keeping the design a bit more simple. And of course I am putting my Polymer Clay Gnome Hooks from Jen at Day by Day Clay and Crochet to good use! I think this easy gnome square is going to appeal to those of you who are struggling with C2C (corner-to-corner crochet) but this is also a fun pattern to work on for those of you who are participating in the monthly C2C gnome project and have time in-between.
Not sure what I am referring to when I am talking about the monthly C2C gnome crochet-along? Come check out a fun collab that Day by Day Clay and Crochet and I are doing HERE! You can also search the hashtag #2022gnomeproject on social media to see it all!

After I get a new crochet hook set I will give this a try but I have not ever done C2C but many patterns I have seen use that .
I taught myself how to crochet at 13 and now age 60 need to relearn to even crochet since it has been 40 years and there has so many things have changed and so has my body lol
I have a metal old set of hooks and with my brittle bione disease that causses me to break super easy I tried the metal and lol they fly out of my hand!
Is C2C hard though?
I like to learn so that helps!
Thank you for making these! They are so cute! I like your work and have others saved I am going to make for my grandson.

Thank you for sharing I love these squares! It’s been over 10 years since I’ve crochet. Does the beginning chain of each round count as the first stitch?

I’ve lately become a fan of VeganWay plant protein powder. The Cafe Mocha flavor is one of my favorites. It is strongly advised that you make use of this powder.

I am having difficulty with the crochet gnome square.
First, I have one less stitch in the top versus the bottom row. I believe this goes back to Round 5: you start with 2 sc and a corner, then continue around to bottom. Along the bottom you have the corner, 4 sc (skipping the beard point) and another corner then you continue up the right side and at the top you finish the corner and only do 1 sc. This makes only 3 sc between the corners on the top and 4 on the bottom.
So when you sew two pieces together, it will be off.
Second, the beard point is not mentioned in the written pattern until you skip it. The video does mention it but the written pattern would have been a lot clearer if you had said ” sc in next 2, sk next st (skipped stitch makes the point of the beard), sc in next two.”
Third, when making the hat, I have 4 leftover stitches on row 2, but you only skip 2 and then join in last stitch with a sc. Row 1 has 14 stitches. Row 2, you only use 9, and there are a total of 4 skipped stitches, leaving one stitch unused.
Fourth, please add to your written pattern and video that the bobble is finished by pulling a loop through all 5 loops on hook. The “5” would help.tremendously. There are no instructions for a bobble on this particular page so I was not sure how many unfinished DC stitches I needed to do.
This is a really cute pattern. I am a pretty experienced crocheter and these 4 areas were confusing.
Thank you for all your patterns!
Sue

I want to start by saying your patterns are always so cute and most of them are straight forward and simple to follow. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mistakes in your written patterns and in your videos you either don’t explain certain things or you just quickly make something and that doesn’t help either. This pattern is great and straight forward. The only issue is with the hat. The written pattern is way off. The hat ends up looking nothing like the one you promote in your pictures. Might want to go back and revamp it a little so that it makes more sense for everyone who really wants to make one of these. Also, it would help if you put how many stitches each row should have and whether or not the chain 2’s or chain 1’s count as a stitch. Other than that your work is adorable and fun to make. You should really proof read and have others test your work before publishing.

When making these squares into a blanket.
Would you recomend a hat for each side? Or just have a front and back to the afghan?
Thanks

This is the most adorable granny square I have seen!!! I’m thinking of adapting it into a temperature afghan.
