Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch… and this year it’s coming to you in pillow form! I’ve made a few of these Crochet Pocket Pillows this year and I just love pairing them with classic seasonal books. I thought “The Great Pumpkin” was a perfect choice for October and the autumn season.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Pumpkin, Tea Leaf, Cafe Latte
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– 14×14 Pillow Form (Get it HERE at Michaels)
– Snoopy Applique Pattern (GET IT HERE)

Pillow FRONT:
On the front of the pillow is my Crochet Pumpkin Granny Square. This is a free pattern that I designed for Yarnspirations.com several years ago. All you need to do is crochet a few extra rounds to make it fit the front of the pillow.
GET THE FREE CROCHET PUMPKIN GRANNY SQUARE PATTERN HERE
After Round 6, you will make 5 more rounds of Double Crochets (repeat round 6 until you have 11 rounds) then you will add in your brown yarn and make 2 rounds of SC stitches, fasten off and weave in ends.
Pillow BACK:
Large Pillow Panel:
with pumpkin orange yarn
Chain 46, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2-50: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (45 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends at the end of row 50.
NOTE: depending on your tension or the slight difference in yarn, one panel may need a few more rows than the other. Line them up and make sure they are the same size.
Half Pillow Panel for Pocket:
with cafe latte brown yarn
Chain 46, SC in second chain from hook and there rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn
Row 2-25: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (45 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends at the end of row 25.
Stitch Snoopy onto the back panel with his paws on the pocket so he is peaking over.
Line up your pillow panels and SC around the edges to connect them all. Add in pillow form before completely closing.
