Grab that Bernat Blanket Brights yarn in colors Race Car Red and Go Go Green! This pattern works up quickly with a size J hook. Together they measure about 20 inches tall by 20 inches wide and one cherry is about 32 inches round!
Materials:
– Bernat Blanket Brights Yarn in Race Car Red (2 balls) and Go Go Green (1 ball)

– 20 oz bag of Polyfil fiberfill (I used the whole bag!)
– Large Tapestry Needle

Cherry Pattern (make 2):
starting with red yarn
weave in any loose ends as you go
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 6: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 7: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 4 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 8: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 9: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 5 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (70 SC)
Round 10-15: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (70 SC)
Round 16: SC Decrease, SC in next 5 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 17: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 18: SC Decrease, SC in next 4 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (50 SC)
Round 19: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (60 SC)
Round 20: SC Decrease, SC in next 3 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (40 SC)
Round 21: SC Decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
start stuffing with polyfil
Round 22: SC Decrease, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 23: SC Decrease all the way around, (10 SC)
finishing stuffing cherry with polyfil
join in green yarn, chain 1
Round 24-42: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (10 SC)
Stuff stem with polyfil as you go!
Fasten off after round 42 or feel free to make the stem longer (or shorter!)
Stitch tops of stems together with tapestry needle.
Leaves (make 4):
Chain 9, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in next, DC in next 5, 8 DC in last chain, now working on other side of chin, DC in next 5, HDC, SC, chain 2, SC in second chain (this makes a point to the tip of the leaf), join to first SC, fasten off.
SC two leaves together by placing them back to back and making a SC in each stitch until you get to the 8 DC stiches at the base of the leaf, make 2 SC in each of those stitches, continue to SC in the rest and join. No need to stuff with polyfil.
I stitched my leaves securely on the top of the stems upside down so the tip of the leave was point downward. This felt more like a cherry leaf to me but you can go either way and use this leaf pattern if you want to change the cherries into red apples! or tomatoes? Lots of ways to tweak this design.
