Bernat Maker Easy Crochet Bees

Bernat Maker yarn got an upgrade! These new vibrant colors are incredible and this yarn is no longer just for home decor projects. They are perfect for stuffies, blankets, and more! This is a tubular yarn with wonderful stitch definition. It’s stretchy, soft, and doesn’t fray. Great for beginners!

If you are new to crochet, you will have no problem picking up this yarn and making these easy crochet bumble bees! The new bright saffron yellow color in this Bernat Maker line of yarn works well for a classic bee but why stop there? Make these in all the shades! You will have a set of bright bees for gifting or displaying!

Materials:
– Bernat Maker Yarn in color Saffron, Black, and Cream. Also pictured is colors Teal and Coral.

– Size H Crochet Hook (an L hook is recommended for this yarn but I love using size H 5mm hook)
– Two 12mm Black Safety Eyes
Get a bulk pack of 12mm safety eyes HERE on Amazon (affiliate link provided)
– Tapestry Needle
– Polyfil Fiber Stuffing

Finished Size: Approximately 6 inches long x 4 inches wide

Bernat Maker Bee Pattern:
With yellow yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1, and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round 2: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (15 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 6-7: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Pause here to stitch on smile with a strand of black and your tapestry needle.
Add in the 12mm black safety eyes between rounds 3 and 4 about six stitches apart. 
join in black yarn (do not fasten off yellow)
Round 8-9: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
join in yellow yarn by pulling it up from round 7 (do not fasten off black)
Round 10-11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
join in black yarn by pulling it up from round 9 (do not fasten off yellow)
Round 12-13: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
join in yellow yarn by pulling it up from round 11, fasten off black.
Round 14: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 15: SC Decrease, SC in next 4, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 16: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Now is a good time to start stuffing with polyfil
Round 17: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 18: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (15 SC)
Round 19: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round 20: SC Decrease until closed. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Wings (make 2):
With cream yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 3-6: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 7: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 8: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off. Do not stuff.

Hold bottom of wings together and stitch onto top of bee with tapestry needle.
