Today is my BIRTHDAY! The kids and I have been very excited that Pixar’s Inside Out 2 movie is in theaters TODAY June 14th, 2024. So to celebrate all the emotions, I have a new pattern for Large Colorful Crochet Cartoon Eyes inspired by the Inside out characters!
These cartoonish crochet eyes are bigger than my original cartoon eyes (SEE THEM HERE) are a great alternative to using safety eyes on many of your projects! Customize them with any color and use them on your animal amigurumi, hats, character blankets and pillows, and more!
Materials:
–Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Soft White, Black, Delft Blue, Carrot Orange, Spring Green, and Lavender. OR choose any accent color for your eyes from the Red Heart Super Saver line of yarn.

– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Finished Size: Approximately 3 x 3.5 inches
Large Crochet Cartoon Eyes Pattern:
Eyes (make 2):
with soft white yarn
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, pull tight, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (16 SC)
Round 3: [2 HDC in first, HDC in next (4x)], [2 SC in next, SC in next (4x)], join, chain 1
Round 4: SC in first 12 stitches, HDC in next 3 stitches, 2 DC in next 5, HDC in last 4, join, fasten off leaving long tail.
With the eye accent color, slip stitch around outer edge of both white eyes where the DC stitches start. Slip stitch along 15 stitches on the edge going left on the left eye and along the right edge on the right eye. Leave enough length on either end of yarn strand to stitch in a couple skinnier stitches on the bottom (weave in with tapestry needle).
Pupils (make 2):
starting with black yarn
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 3 HDC, 2 SC, 3 HDC, 2 SC, join in accent color, chain 1
Round 2: SC in each stitch around, join (10 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends except one long one strand to sew onto bigger white eye.
Optional: with a strand of white yarn and your tapestry needle, create a little “twinkle in the eye” by looping the white yarn around one of the stitches twice. You can always knot the yarn on the backside instead of weaving in all the strands.
