Many were asking if you could use Bernat Blanket Yarn for the Penny & Benny Knotted Lovey Bears instead of the Bernat Softee Chunky yarn I originally designed it with. Good news! Stitching up this bear in Bernat Blanket yarn works perfectly!
I customized this one with a heart for Valentine’s Day instead of a winter snowflake. This was actually the plan all along! You can customize the sweater with dozens of different motifs for all the seasons and holidays. How about a shamrock, flower, or pumpkin?! So many options!
The pattern and video tutorials for the Penny & Benny Bears are still the same (and the same hook size) whether you use Bernat Softee Chunky or Bernat Blanket yarn. And they turned out to be almost exactly the same size!

Dare I say I think I like this version better?! The knotted legs are actually chunkier and cuter! I might even add on a little ruffle skirt to the bottom of the sweater using a few crochet scallops. Maybe a turtleneck too!
Oh! I also added 20mm safety eyes but you could always stitch them on if you prefer.
