Granny Square Petite Ribbed Beanie Pattern

The Granny Square Petite Ribbed Beanie has quickly become one of my favorite fall makes! When I first shared the beige and black version in Linen, it was such a hit that I knew I needed to make more. So here they are—three new versions of this cozy hat in different colorways of Red Heart Granny Square All-in-One Petite Yarn.

This yarn is brilliant because the colors transition perfectly to form petite granny squares without any extra effort. Each skein is dyed to flow seamlessly through the rounds, which means every square looks detailed and colorful without juggling multiple yarns. I went ahead and ordered this yarn in all the shades because I have so many requests from family and friends for this hat! How the Beanie is Made

Materials:
– Red Heart Granny Square Petite Yarn. I used colors Snazzy, Foxy, and Linen

– One ball of Red Heart Super Saver solid color yarn in a coordinating shade.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– Faux Fur Pompoms (Shop them HERE on Amazon – affiliate link)

One size fits most children and adults!

Beanie Pattern:
Make 3 Granny Squares with Red Heart All-in-One Granny Square Petite Yarn
Join them together in a row using the loose ends and the whip stitch.
Row 1: Attach Red Heart solid yarn to end edge of the granny squares, chain 1 and make 39 SC stitches across the edge, chain 1, turn.
Row 2-50: SC in in the back loops only, chain 1, turn (39 SC)
SC the two edges together so you form a tube
SC Decrease around the top opening of hat until closed. It’s easiest to use your tapestry needle to close the top when it becomes difficult to make SC Decreases.
Add a Faux Fur Pompom to the top! THESE ONES come in a variety of colors and they have a loop that lets you easily attach it to the beanie.
Flip up the ribbed edge for a stretchy, flexible brim!

Each hat starts with three petite granny squares made with the Granny Square All-in-One Petite Yarn.

Use the loose ends to whip stitch the 3 squares together.

Once your squares are connected, grab a coordinating solid yarn (like Red Heart Super Saver in Buff Beige, Blue, Berry Red or another matching color) and single crochet evenly along one side. You should have about 38-40 stitches. I actually ended up with 39 in most cases.

Chain 1, turn, and SC in the back loops only for the remaining 50 rows.

SC the two edges together.

Continue by SC Decreasing along the top edge until closed.

Sometimes it’s easiest to use your tapestry needle and weave the yarn under the front loops to finish closing the top of your beanie.

Add a faux fur pompom in a coordinating color! The ones I bought have a little loop that you can use to attach it tightly to the top.

Flip up the bottom edge to create a brim!
