Free Mini Baby Reindeer Crochet Pattern (Easy Christmas Amigurumi!)

Christmas is in the air and Santa’s reindeer are taking flight! Meet my Mini Baby Reindeer Crochet Pattern. An easy project that’s bursting with holiday spirit. I started with Rudolph (because who can resist that red nose?) and then made Dasher… but my goal is to crochet all of Santa’s reindeer before December! Each one works up quickly and makes the perfect little ornament, gift topper, or festive friend to display with your holiday décor. Wouldn’t they look adorable gathered around a mini Santa sleigh like this one from Amazon?

Mini Reindeer Pattern:

Materials:
– Bernat Super Value Yarn in color topaz (body), taupe (darker brown for antlers, arms, feet), and oatmeal (snout). Shop these colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H crochet hook
– Two 8mm black safety eyes (I purchased mine HERE on Amazon)
– Poly-fil fiber stuffing
– Tapestry needle
Finished Size: Approximately 6 inches tall x 5 inches wide (from foot to foot)

Snout:
with oatmeal yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (15 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 4-6: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Fasten off leaving long tail.

Nose:
with red for Rudolf and Taupe brown for all other reindeer
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail.
No need to stuff.
Stitch onto snout above magic ring round.

Body + Head:
(works from the bottom up – pause at Rd 21 to add snout and eyes)
With topaz brown yarn
Magic ring, make 6 SC in ring, continue to SC in rounds
Round 2: 2 SC in each around (12 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around (18 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around ( 24 SC)
Round 5-9: SC in each stitch around (24 SC)
Round 10: SC decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around
Round 11: SC decrease, SC in next, repeat around
Round 12: SC  in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 13: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 14: 2 SC in first, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 15-19: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (30 SC)
Round 20: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 21: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1 (18 SC)
Start suffing with polyfil 
Stitch on snout and secure safety eyes in place on either side of snout.
Round 22: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 23: SC Decrease in each stitch around until top of head is closed. Be sure to finish stuffing with polyfil before completely closing.

Ears + Tail (make 3):
with topaz brown yarn
Chain 5, SC in 2^nd chain from hook, DC in next two, HDC in last chain, fasten off.
Stitch ears onto head a few rows above each eye.
Stitch tail to back of reindeer, about 5 rows up from bottom.

Baby Antlers (make 2):
with crochet hook, join in taupe brown yarn to top of head, about 1 stitch away from one of the ears.
Chain 4, slip stitch in second chain from hook and rest of the way down chain, slip stitch to attach back to head and weave in ends. Repeat to make second antler next to other ears.

Arms (make 2): 
starting with taupe brown yarn
Magic ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2-3: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
join in topaz brown yarn
Round 4-8: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
Round 9: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 10: SC in each stitch around, join
Fasten off, stuff lightly and attach to front of neck area

Feet (make 2): 
starting with Taupe Brown
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1 (15 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around,  (15 SC)
join in topaz brown yarn, chain 1
Round 4: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1
Round 5: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join chain 1
Round 6: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (10 SC)
Round7: SC Decrease in each stitch around, join,

Fasten off, stuff with polyfil and stitch onto either side of bottom of body so the legs are sticking out sideways.

Reins (optional):
with red for Rudolph and Taupe for all other Reindeer
Chain 22, join to first chain to make circle (this will go around the nose), chain 24, Fasten off.
place circle around the nose and wrap the chain 24 around the back of the head and attach with tapestry needle to the other side of the original chain 22 circle.

Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
