Christmas Porch Goose C2C Crochet Panel

October 27, 2026

IT’S TIIIIIME! Well, almost! You know the drill. The moment the clock strikes midnight on October 31st, it’s officially time for Christmas crocheting! (Cue Mariah Carey’s voice!)

I’m getting a little head start on our next Porch Goose C2C Crochet Panel, and this time our goose is dressed for Christmas! Wearing a Santa hat, a matching scarf, and holding a gingerbread man cookie that’s almost too cute to eat!

I’ve started crocheting this one, but I wanted to share the pixel graph now for those of you who are anxious to get started. Just like our Halloween goose, I’ll be updating this post with progress photos and more details as I go!

About the Porch Goose C2C Crochet Series

If you’re just joining us, I’m creating a collection of four holiday-themed porch geese using the corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet technique!

Our Halloween Porch Goose was the first to join the flock, complete with a witch hat, cape, and jack-o’-lantern treat bucket. Now we’re moving on to Christmas with a Santa hat, scarf, and gingerbread cookie!

Each goose is crocheted as a long, skinny panel measuring approximately 15 inches wide by 51 inches tall. Once all four panels are finished, I’ll join them together to create one big holiday-themed blanket!

Of course, each panel can also be used individually as an oversized wall hanging or door decoration. Two more mystery geese to go after Christmas! Any guesses what themes might be next?

If you’re new to Corner-to-Corner (C2C) crochet, it’s a fun and highly addictive technique that turns pixel-style graphs into beautiful textured crochet pieces. You’ll start in one corner of the design (typically the lower right) and work diagonally in rows toward the opposite corner. Each pixel square represents one block made up of a chain 2 + 3 half double crochets (HDC). I prefer using HDC instead of double crochet for a slightly tighter, neater stitch. C2C is a great way to bring character designs, icons, and seasonal motifs to life!

Before you get started, below is a Corner-to-Corner Video Tutorial if you need some help with the technique:

Christmas Porch Goose Yarn Colors

For this project, I’m using a variety of yarns I already had on hand. Before you go shopping, check your yarn stash! You may already have the perfect reds, greens, and other colors for your Christmas goose.

Here’s what I’m using:

  • Background: Bernat Super Value – Lush Green
  • Goose Beak and Feet: Red Heart Super Saver – Saffron
  • Goose Body, Neck, Wing, and Head: Red Heart Super Saver – White
  • Sweater: Red Heart Super Saver – Paddy Green
  • Santa Hat and Scarf: Red Heart Super Saver – Cherry Red
  • Hat Brim, Pom-Pom, and Scarf Trim: Bernat Pipsqueak – White
  • Gingerbread Man Cookie: Bernat Super Value – Topaz
  • Eye: Small amount of black yarn

A Little Something Extra for the Santa Hat!

Here’s where I’m having some fun with texture! Instead of using regular white yarn for the Santa hat brim, pom-pom, and scarf trim, I’m using Bernat Pipsqueak yarn in White.

This fuzzy yarn will give the hat and scarf a fluffy, almost fur-like finish. It will also create some much-needed contrast between the white goose head and the white Santa hat trim.

I used this same technique on my December Santa Gnome C2C Crochet, and I loved how it turned out!

You can use an off white or grayish yarn instead if you can find a fun faux-fur yarn. Or even a different shade of green for an elf hat/scarf!

Gingerbread Man Details

I couldn’t resist adding a little gingerbread man to this Christmas goose!

I’m using Bernat Super Value in Topaz, which happens to be one of my favorite gingerbread cookie colors. Once the panel is finished, I plan to add a few embellishments to bring our little cookie friend to life. Think tiny gumdrop buttons, stitched black eyes, a sweet smile, and rosy pink cheeks!

Christmas Porch Goose C2C Crochet Pattern

Crochet Hook: Size H (5.0 mm)

Technique: Half Double Crochet Corner-to-Corner (HDC C2C)

Approximate Finished Size: 15 inches wide by 51 inches tall, based on my completed Halloween panel. Final Christmas measurements will be confirmed once finished.

I’m using the same HDC C2C method as my Halloween Porch Goose. This creates smaller, more compact squares than traditional double crochet C2C, which works especially well for the details in these pixel graphs.

If you’re new to the project, you can find more information about my method and the first completed goose here: Halloween Porch Goose C2C Crochet Panel

I’ll continue updating this post with progress pictures, yarn notes, and additional instructions as I work through the panel.

More Porch Geese Coming Soon!

After Christmas, we still have two more adorable geese to crochet. I can’t wait to see all four holiday geese lined up together in one big blanket. And if you’re only interested in making one or two, remember that these panels make wonderful individual holiday decorations, too!

Keep checking back! I’ll be adding more progress photos, updates, and finished panel details right here as I crochet.

Merry Christmas Crocheting!
