Countdown to Candy Frames

According to big brother, everything happens in 3 days or 3 minutes. For instance, if I tell him that daddy had to go out of town for work this week he says, “I can’t wait to see daddy in 3 days.” or at bedtime when I tell him its time to go to sleep he says “just 3 more minutes.” So I knew that a whole month of counting down to halloween was going to be too much. But one week seemed like a nice time frame. Just enough for him to get excited about about trick or treating and not too many days of counting for him to get bored.

These countdown to candy frames only take a couple minutes to put together!

Here is what you will need:
– Two 5×7 frames from the Dollar Store
– Chalkboard Contact Paper
– FREE Halloween Scrapbook Printables from Halloweencostumes.com
– Chalk Ink Markers

First, head on over to Halloweencostumes.com and check out their FREE Scrapbook Printables! They have a variety of frames and backgrounds that you can easily print out on 8.5×11 paper.

I used one of the frames as a template to cut the chalkboard contact paper.

I glued (I chose to use spray adhesive) the orange background printable directly onto the backing of my picture frames and trimmed the edges. Then I stuck the contact paper directly in the middle. Easy-peasy!

I used my chalkboard markers to write on the chalkboard contact paper. They wipe clean with a wet towel or wipe so I can easily change the number each day until Halloween.

My oldest was very excited about this! When my aunt came over, it was the first thing he showed her. “Look Auntie! Seven days until trick or treating!” he says to her 🙂 Halloween is going to be so much fun this year 🙂
