T-shirt Pillow with The Sharp Crochet Hook

October 5, 2012

Big brother had outgrown his guitar shirt and it was a little too worn and stretched out to be passed down to little brother. But we really liked this shirt! As I was flipping through Family Fun Magazine, I came across a great idea: turning your old t-shirts into keepsake pillows! Yes! This is what I would do 🙂 Only problem was, I don’t own a sewing machine. So I thought, why not use my Sharp Crochet Hook?! If you aren’t familiar with The Sharp Crochet Hook, it is a crochet hook with a sharp point that can crochet through fabric without having to pre-poke holes. I knew I could crochet the pieces together with this hook and have a nice crocheted edged at the same time.

First I drew the shape I was going to cut out with a washable marker.
I cut out the shape of the pillow and using size 10 crochet thread and my Sharp Crochet Hook, I crocheted around the edge using this pattern: SC, chain 1, repeat around. Make sure to stuff the pillow before you join to the first SC.
I then went around the pillow edge one more time and used the Quick and Easy stitch pattern that came free on The Sharp Crochet Hook package.
That’s it! Now we have a pretty cool guitar pillow for my little rock star to snuggle with at night 🙂

You can purchase the Sharp Crochet Hook at www.sharpcrochethook.com. On their website you will also find lots of great tutorials and patterns for crocheting edging and borders. If you are a crocheter and don’t already have one of these hooks, it is something you must add to your supplies!

What a great idea. The other day I was looking at one of my daughter's shirts that has paint on it. I was thinking how pretty the flower was and that it would make a great pillow. Now you've inspired me.

processions Nicole Hardly beautifully intertwines the concepts of PROCESSIONS and essay writing in her eloquent comment. She draws parallels between the vibrant processions celebrating a century of women’s voices and the artistry of essay writing. As a bridge between these worlds, Nicole champions unity and invites us to join in crafting our shared narrative. Her reflection reminds us that history is an ongoing story, and essay writing is a powerful tool to shape it. Her message inspires us to celebrate progress and honor the women who have paved the way for future generations.
