Easy Homemade Finger Paints

June 22, 2013

I wanted to do something fun with little brother when big brother was out with daddy. A project he could have all to himself. So I quickly mixed up some easy homemade finger paints! I knew he would have fun getting messy and it was something we could set up outside. This paint is washable and edible as well!

The recipe couldn’t be simpler:

Ingredients:
– 1 cup flour
– 1 cup water
– Food coloring

1. Mix flour and water together until mixture is smooth.
2. Separate into containers (like baby food jars) or bowls.
3. Add about 4 drops of food coloring to each and mix.

As paint sits, it may separate. Just stir it up again!

Spread out a big sheet of paper and let your little one have at it! Use your fingers, cut up sponges, paint brushes and more to paint with.

We finally let big brother in on the fun later in the day 🙂

Thanks for sharing! Turns out the most difficult thing about this is actually getting it in the jar (and keeping the cats from eating it) 🙂

Definitely an easy recipe and good for the kiddos, but the flour kind of clumped up after awhile and was not fun cleaning out of the paint bushes! I will still probably use the recipe again, but will take your suggestion of using sponges in place of the brushes. Thanks for sharing!
