Crochet Cow Hat Pattern

October 30, 2013

I love this little moo cow crochet hat πŸ™‚ I think it is actually my new favorite! I made this one very gender neutral but I plan on making another one with a pink snout, ears, and a little crochet bow for my baby girl. You could really customize this cow hat just by using different colors of yarn.

Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn in white, black, and beige.
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry needle
– Stitch marker
– Small amount of poly-fil or extra yarn scraps to fill the horns.
– 1 black button and 1 white button

Thank you so much for the cute hat pattern! I've made it all the way to the snout and I am having difficulty getting it to work with the stitch counts as written. Is there supposed to be 2 sc in both ends of the rows? Thanks so much! πŸ™‚

Summerysmile, i think the pattern reads 2sc, 1 in next and then repeat to end. if you just did 2sc in the first and last stitch you would only have 8 sc. so row two would be 2sc in first stitch and then 1sc in next two, repeat that pattern to end of row. I hope I explained it right. I was having the same thought you did.

Can anyone help me? Do I need to ch2 after magic ring before i begin 11 DC in magic ring? πŸ™ I'm new to Crochet and i found out that some pattern has ch2 after magic ring, and some don't…

Ivy; After closing the ring with a slip stitch you will chain 2, same with every round. Unless the pattern states that the ch2 counts as a stitch, I don't count it in my round.

And I LOVED this pattern. Super easy to follow and my hat came out cute as heck!

Hi there..I wanted to start by saying I love your Patterns..I am having some issues and I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I crochet the toddler cow hat using worsted weight and a 5mm hook. The Circumference of the hat I made is between 20 and 21 inches..does this seem too big for a toddler? I do crochet a little on the looser side and it seems every pattern I try the circumference doesn’t seem to work out right.. any ideas of what I could be doing wrong? Or am I doing this wrong .. thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to crochet. I have only made a flat DC blanket and scarf. This is my first hat. My question is I’ve only done the first couple of rows, but it looks wavy. Is this normal? Am I doing it too tight? Ive watched videos to make sure I was doing it correct, and I think I’m stitching it right. In each stitch I crochet 2DC then move on to the next (adult/teen size). Just want to double check before I finish. Thanks!

Hi and thanks for stopping by! I'm Sarah, the crafter, crocheter and occasional crockpotter behind this blog. As a wife and mom of 3 my days are busy but I always find time to pick up my crochet hook or indulge in something crafty. I have a passion for crafting and crocheting and offer my patterns and tutorials for free! I hope you enjoy everything you find here and please feel free to repeat after me!
