Teeny Tiny Crochet Stars

June 11, 2014

Is it just me or do you sometimes find the need for some teeny tiny crochet stars?! These little cuties are about 1 inch wide and a great replacement for a button. They only take a couple minutes to make and add a nice little flair to your crochet projects. I will show you how I use them in tomorrows post 🙂

Materials:
– Worsted weight yarn
– Size G Crochet Hook
– Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:
Magic Ring Tutorial <— click link for tutorials by Petals to Picots. You will need to know how to make the magic ring for this project!
Ch = chain
SC = Single Crochet
Sl St = Slip Stitch

Star Pattern:
Magic Ring, chain 2, *SC in second chain, join to magic ring loop with a slip stitch, chain 2 and repeat from * until you have 5 “points.” Pull ring tight and fasten off. Weave in ends or leave a long tail to sew on star as an appliqué.

*** You may make and sell products from my patterns but if you do I ask that you link back to my post. Please do not copy and post this pattern and claim it as your own. Please do not re-publish photos as your own.***

    When you join the last "point" of the star, do you use a slip stitch in the ring?

    These are great! Thank-you for sharing Sarah! Mine are coming out rounded looking – any thoughts on what I'm doing to cause that?

      Mine came out a little rounded too. After I finished, I shaped them myself.

    I chained 3 instead of 2, ss in next st, then ss back in magic ring. This makes the points of the star a little more pointy.

      clever ! does make pointier stars and sarah’s looks more like a flower. either way works. thanks for suggesting a different way.

    What would be the best technique to crochet a circle (like the Captain America shield) around one of these stars?

    I love these little stars! But I am new to crochet and can’t get it to come out right. Do you by chance have a video of this to show each step for beginners like me? I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. It would help to see exactly where next steps need to go. Thanks!

    Love this but mine turn out a little wonky. I tried Cheryl’s pattern as well and both versions are good. However, I don’t know how to fasten it off. What is the last stitch?

    Thank you for this pattern. So quick and simple to make. I made a bunch and covered the top
    of them in glow in the dark glue for my 3 year old son to have in in his room at night, and some for gifts to other family members. Who wouldn’t love a tiny glow in the dark star?
