I had to add one more crochet beverage keychain to the mix! A crocheted cup of hot cocoa with a sweet little peppermint swirl candy is the perfect way to close out the last days of Christmas in July!
This pattern is based off of my other crocheted drinks with just a few changes to make it a bit shorter and rounder. You can find the Beer Mug, Boba Tea, and Frappuccino Keychains HERE.
Materials
– Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red, Cafe Latte, and White.
Shop all the yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com.
– Size H Crochet Hook and a size F Crochet Hook
– Polyfil Fiber Stuffing
– Key rings. I got mine HERE on Amazon (affiliate link).
Finished Size: Approximately 4 x 4 inches
Note: Pattern is worked from the bottom up
Cocoa Cup Pattern:
starting with red yarn and size H crochet hook
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 4-9: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
join in brown yarn after round 9, fasten off red
Round 10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
join in white yarn after round 10, fasten off brown
Round 11: SC in each stitch around, join chain 1 (25 SC)
Round 12: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 13: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1
Round 14: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1
Stuff with polyfil
SC Decrease until closed or use your tapestry needle to stich the top closed.
Now let’s make the whipped cream:
with white yarn and size F crochet hook
join in yarn around any stitch along round 11. Chain 4, slip stitch to join in the same stitch, slip stitch over so you are working in next stitch, chain 4 and slip stitch back to same stitch, continue around and the work upward along rounds 12-14 making chain 4 loops to create “whipped cream”
Fasten off and use the yarn tail to secure a keyring to the top of the cup.
Cup Handle:
with red yarn and size F crochet hook
Create a 12 row long icord.

Stitch to the side of cup with one end on the bottom round and the other right below the brown cocoa layer.

You can find this festive free pattern HERE on the Petals to Picots blog! I actually stopped about halfway because you don’t need the peppermint to be round when stitching it onto the top of the mug.
